Fancy a bite to eat or a drink on a terrace in Amsterdam City Center? Then you'll want to know this list of all the (new) tips for 2026.

YES, summer is here to stay! And that means, of course, on the patio. It's in the at the center Always be careful not to fall into a tourist trap, but luckily there are plenty of lovely (hidden) terraces where you'll definitely want to sit in the sun this summer. From terraces where you can enjoy your breakfast, have drinks in the sun, bask in the evening warmth, or enjoy a delicious lunch on the terrace. Enjoy these lovely terraces in Amsterdam-Centrum.

Straight from the airport to this little place to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉 <3

In Taipei, you go to a Soy Milk Shop for breakfast. Warm soy milk to eat in a bowl, and steam baskets with the tastiest dumplings and baozi. You can really wake me up for this kind of breakfast. These local breakfast spots come in all shapes and sizes, from Michelin-recommended spots to hole-in-the-wall stalls.

Most soy milk shops open early (and sometimes even 24 hours a day), and these are the dishes you want to try:
🥄 Warm soy milk
🥢 Soup dumplings (you can often choose between pork and veggies)
🥢 Pork baozi
🥢 Youtiao (油條 - a kind of fried donut stick)
🥢 Youtiao (油條) w/ pork floss & rice
🥢 Turnip cake
🥢 Chives pancake
🥢 Scallion pancake

TIP: Sharing is a good idea to taste as much as possible, because the portions are (often) large.

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away.

During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies, where there is plenty to do.

• A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea.

· Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round.

· Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting.

Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold right now, but there is plenty to do.

• The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!).

Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure.

In the building that housed Restaurant Breda for years, you'll now find Wijnlokaal Stern, owned by the team behind De Scheepskameel, among others. Here, everything revolves around good food and, above all, good wine, with a strong focus on German bottles, often available by the glass.

Newly located on Amstelveld square, in the former location of Brasserie Nel, you'll now find Café-Restaurant Meyer. The terrace overlooks the square and is a lovely spot to relax for lunch, drinks, or dinner. While you enjoy a glass of wine or a tasty dish from the menu—our tip: the shrimp sando—children can play in the playground next to the terrace or run around the square.

Oocker

Wine lovers should definitely put Oocker on their radar. With a wine list of over 350 bottles and sommeliers eager to introduce you to something new, everything revolves around the perfect glass. The terrace is a wonderful spot for drinks or dinner, while the kitchen serves French-Italian dishes that perfectly complement the wines. Also fun: they regularly organize wine tastings for groups.

Dinette

Dinette is the newest all-day spot from the team behind Verlan and Slope7 And that promises something. Located on one of the Jordaan's most charming streets, with a view of the iconic Westertoren tower, this is a place you'll want to flop down for dinner right away. Starting Thursday, they open at 10:30 a.m. for a good coffee on the small terrace, and the temptation to linger for lunch is strong. It's a great spot to keep in mind, because in the summer, the doors can be fully opened, and even inside, you almost feel like you're sitting outside.

On the corner of Prinsengracht and Amstelveld is Café Marcella, a true Amsterdam café with a modern edge. The menu features tasty snacks like cheeses from Kef and delicious smoked beef sausage from Slagerij de Wit. You can also moor your boat here, but the terrace is reason enough to linger. From breakfast to drinks, you'll feel right at home here.

Café Nieuw Amsterdam

Located on Haarlemmerstraat, Café Nieuw Amsterdam is a modern bistro with a terrace and a hidden courtyard garden behind the restaurant. This green courtyard, in particular, is a lovely spot for lunch, drinks, or dinner al fresco, far from the hustle and bustle of the street. On Sundays, the Sunday Roast is highly recommended, and in the summer, they go all out with oysters and shellfish during their Fête du Poisson.

Domenica

After a lap around the noordermarkt, head to Domenica, a cozy restaurant known for its refined Italian cuisine. Reservations are often required well in advance, but once you're seated, preferably on the terrace, you'll immediately understand why. The menu features dishes with a classic foundation and a modern twist, such as tagliolini with squid ink or pappardelle with ragù.

Sinck

Sinck is a delightful restaurant where wine and gastronomy go hand in hand. Downstairs, you'll find an intimate wine bar, and upstairs a restaurant where Chef Sander (known for his work at the Victoria Hotel, among other places) serves refined dishes. In good weather, you can also sit outside on the canal-side terrace.

Ela Restobar

On Elandsgracht, you'll find Ela Restobar, a cozy spot for all-day dining with Mediterranean influences. The menu is full of dishes perfect for sharing, from lunch to dinner. The restaurant itself is cozy, but in good weather, you'll want to sit on the terrace with friends and order a table full of small dishes and a good glass of wine.

Café Cenc 

Café Cenc, the successor to Bambino, is located on the corner of Vijzelgracht. A new favorite for a long lunch or dinner. The sunny terrace is perfect for settling in with a glass of wine and a few dishes to share. The menu is compact but good, and of course, you can finish with their famous soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt.

Inside, it's cozy and stylish, while outside, you can soak up every ray of sunshine. The extensive wine list and delicious menu complete the picture.
