✨ Terug bij Spectrum** in het Waldorf Astoria en elke keer is het weer even speciaal. Zo’n plek waar alles klopt, van de amuses tot het allerlaatste dessert. En eerlijk? Ik blijf het bijzonder vinden dat ik hier samen met chef Sidney Schutte en zijn team ooit een eigen YLBB afternoon tea heb mogen bedenken. Een mijlpaal die ik nooit vergeet!
🖤 Deze keer kwamen we terug voor het nieuwe menu. Wij gingen all-in, maar wist je dat je hier nu ook terechtkunt voor een speciale avond met minder gangen? Dikke tip voor wie liever kiest voor een 3-gangenmenu of à la carte. Perfect als je iets bijzonders te vieren hebt!

Na een paar drukke weken was dit knusse Wikkelhouse midden in het bos precies wat we nodig hadden!

𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙: 𝘃𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝗻.
Ik vierde mijn verjaardag met een nachtje Nijmegen en een heel bijzonder diner en we logeerden in een fijn boshuisje.
Jullie weten: zonder reizen kan ik niet. Dicht bij huis net zo fijn als aan de andere kant van de wereld. Ik ben gewoon té nieuwsgierig!
Door die nieuwsgierigheid naar nieuwe plekken en een onuitputtelijke drive om alles uit mijn vrije tijd te halen wat erin zit, is ooit Your Little Black Book ontstaan.
Tips delen en jou helpen je leven leuker te maken, zonder dat je het zelf allemaal hoeft uit te zoeken, is na 13 jaar nog steeds wat ik het allerliefst doe!
Alle veranderingen (die nu wel heel hard gaan, voor mijn gevoel) wakkeren mijn nieuwsgierigheid alleen maar aan. Van AI tot een grote omslag in de horeca, waarvan ik voel dat die gaat komen.
En van nog bewustere keuzes maken. Zo boekte ik voor mijn verjaardag wél een peperduur restaurant, maar ben ik afgehaakt met bijna dagelijks dure broodjes halen of verse bloemen. Ik hoor vrienden om mij heen ook steeds meer over de discussie ‘wat iets je nog waard is’. Wel een interessant topic, waar we het vaker over moeten hebben, denk ik. Maar eerst: part 2 van de LIFE LATELY update!

Heb jij restaurants op je lijstje staan waar je nog een keer wilt eten voor iets speciaals? Voor mijn verjaardag boekte De Nieuwe Winkel. Zo bijzonder!

Verse bloemen voelen écht als een cadeautje, maar ik ben afgehaakt bij deze verwennerij qua uitgave. Dus vroeg ik voor mijn verjaardag een duurzaam boeket veldbloemen.

Soms fantaseer ik wel eens over een eigen huisje ergens in de natuur. Dat fantaseren eindigt altijd met de conclusie dat ik steeds iets nieuws wil ontdekken, zoals dit Wikkelhouse van @stayokayhostels.

Als mijn zoontje op zaterdag naar Kung Fu-les is, gaan wij vaak even naar de Lindenmarkt om te ontbijten. Dit keer: Jian Bing van Mong Mong en een broodje van Charly’s!

Op reis hou ik zo van foodtourtje langs de lekkerste marktkramen. Broodje hier, hapje daar. Favorieten op de Lindenmarkt: Mr. Brasa, Uitgepoeleerd en Trunk Food.
➍ 𝗠𝗼𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗴 <𝟯
In de meivakantie reisden we door China en ik kreeg deze Foo Dogs voor Moederdag. Het liefste cadeau ever, als aandenken aan deze bijzondere trip.

Als er één stad in China is die je gezien wilt hebben, dan is het wel Shanghai. Van mooie musea tot straatjes in de Franse wijk om eindeloos in te verdwalen.
➏ 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗱𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲
Ik ben de tel kwijt hoeveel dumplings we hebben gegeten. Maar soup dumplings met crab zijn echt een must! 🥟🦀

Samen fietsen door Shanghai 🥰! Met stip een van de mooiste nieuwe herinneringen die we deze meivakantie maakten.
China; je was GE-WEL-DIG! Ontelbaar veel kommen met noodles, iedere dag bao buns en dumplings in alle vormen en maten 🥟, de lekkerste Peking duck ever, panda’s 🐼 en dwalen door de Verboden Stad en over de Chinese muur.
De tips komen er aan, maar eerst BACK TO WORK en school.

The cozy Buurtcafé De Tros not only has a beautiful interior, but you can also enjoy incredibly delicious food. Every day they keep spots open for walk-ins, both inside and outside on the terrace. I love coming here to have a drink with my husband and child, but it’s also the perfect place for an evening with friends or a date. You must try the famous smash burger and the ever-changing menu keeps surprising.

One of the nicest and largest new terraces in Amsterdam East is the terrace of Badhuis at Javaplein. From morning to evening, you can watch people cycle by while enjoying the sun of the Amsterdam summer. Another great thing about Badhuis is that you can reserve a spot on the terrace to be sure of a place. The drink menu is on point and the dinner menu is top-notch (the burger is definitely a favorite!). In short: a great addition to the neighborhood and a place where everyone feels at home.

Bottleshop
In the past 15 years that I’ve lived in the neighborhood, I’ve seen the Wibautstraat in Amsterdam East change tremendously. It’s getting cozier and new fun eateries like Bottleshop certainly contribute to that! In good weather, you can enjoy a glass of natural wine or a bubble on the terrace. They have such a fun and diverse wine list and the team can give you excellent advice.

FITZ on the Roof (Pillows Maurits At The Park)
Amsterdam East has gained a new rooftop. At the Pillows Hotel, Fitz on the Roof opens in good weather. The cocktail bar Fitz, but on the roof of the beautiful building. You come here to enjoy the sunset and taste great cocktails. At Fitz on the Roof you can’t have an extensive meal, but there is a nice drink menu. In my opinion, this new rooftop terrace is a great addition to East, because such a chic place was really the only thing missing in the vast array of eateries. Here you can feel like you’re in another city due to the international vibe that you normally only experience in luxury hotels while traveling.

Looking for a beautiful and quiet terrace with a view of the Oosterpark? On the menu, you’ll find delicious brunch dishes such as Eggs Benedict, steak tartare, and more. Staying for drinks after brunch? Then Le French Café is definitely the right place. The snacks are so delicious that you might almost skip the main course for dinner. But that would be a shame if you love fruits de mer! This new restaurant in Amsterdam is not only a great addition for anyone who loves French food but also the perfect place to enjoy shellfish and seafood. So plan that next dinner date!

The terrace of Troef is in good weather the entrance to a delightful evening of extensive dining in the restaurant. You can start with an aperitif and some small bites to share. At the small bistro tables, you leave the worries of the day behind while you enjoy the sun on your face and a sidelong glance towards the Amstel. Such a lovely place!

There aren’t many tables on the terrace at Risto Enoteca PepeNero in the Eerste Oosterparkstraat, but the food is excellent. Marco is undoubtedly the best host in Amsterdam who turns every evening at Pepenero into a celebration. You come here for the authentic Italian cuisine without fuss. The best ingredients, pure dishes. This remains one of the best restaurants in East, and in good weather, you can be one of the lucky ones to snag a spot on the terrace. Reservations are necessary!

Restaurant Alba is a wonderful place on the Wibautstraat where you can sit down for a fine dining dinner on the terrace. The dishes change with the seasons, so you’ll always taste something new. When you’re sitting on the terrace here, you forget the hustle and bustle of the Wibautstraat immediately! On Saturdays and Sundays, they open at 4:00 PM, making it a great spot for a drink.

De Kas is undoubtedly one of the most special restaurants in Amsterdam East. You eat beautiful dishes in a huge greenhouse in the middle of Park Frankendael. The vegetables on your plate are harvested in the morning from their own gardens in North Holland. And you can taste it! In good weather, you can sit on the terrace under the shade cloths. A tip to remember if you want to have an extensive and luxurious lunch on a weekday!

Loulou Pizzabar
For the best pizza on the terrace, I always go to LouLou in East. The terrace on the Weesperzijde has fortunately become much larger since the takeover of the place next door. The pizzas are incredibly delicious, and you can choose between sourdough or gluten-free dough (made with a unique mix of pea flour, rice flour, and cornflour). I can tell you: it’s one of the few places where I eat all the crusts of the pizza ;-). It’s also a great place for a quick meal with the kids. The bunny ear pizza remains a hit.

One of those terraces that you only know if you live nearby and cycle past is the large terrace of The Lobby in East. Easily accessible by car, and you can sit there very quietly. In my opinion, Bar Bouche is a typical all-rounder. The atmosphere is accessible, the terrace looks incredibly cozy, and the menu is full of delicious dishes to share.
