Effortless, chic, undiscovered, and incredibly centrally located: meet Tannay Amsterdam, the newest restaurant from the Caron family. Chef Thomas Demuth now reigns supreme in the space formerly occupied by De Gouden Reael. This results in some truly unique flavor combinations.
You have to know how to find this place. But once you succeed, you will return all the more often. Few restaurants in our capital are situated as idyllically as Tannay Amsterdam (Gebroeders Hartering is a good comparison here). The Zandhoek location (near the picturesque Prinseneiland and Bickerseiland, Amsterdam-Centrum ) offers the perfect backdrop for long, languid summer evenings in style. For while Tannay may have a relaxed terrace with plenty of sunshine, the enjoyment there is on a high level. Pull up a chair before dinner for a good glass of wine, or linger all evening in the monumental building or – weather permitting – by the water. A good view is guaranteed.
Chef Thomas Demuth is in charge of Tannay Amsterdam and introduces his guests to his roots in Burgundy. The small village of Tannay, to be precise. He grew up there, and his father still makes wine there.
Tannay's menu offers a taste of Burgundy, but with a Dutch twist. Think green asparagus, caviar dishes, monkfish with morels, lamb with barigoule artichokes, and, of course, riz-au-lait for dessert. But if you prefer a surprise and want to experience even more authentic Burgundy, opt for the five-course surprise menu.
Fun fact: the Caron family restaurants are run by Alain Caron. He moved to Amsterdam in the 1980s to pursue his passion. His first kitchen job was at the former restaurant where Tannay is now located. In short: things have come full circle – and the love for this place is still palpable.
