Sunday Roast at Mr. Porter: weekly brunch for foodies

5 April 2017

imagine yourself in the uk at the new sunday brunch of mr. porter

Whenever I’m in London, the Sunday Roast is one of the highlights of the city trip for me. I often told my boyfriend that it’s such a shame we don’t have a tradition like this in Amsterdam. An extensive brunch with friends with traditional pub food and an animal hanging on the spit or going into the oven. Well, good news for everyone who loves this as much as I do. Mr. Porter in the W Hotel in Amsterdam has started a new tradition. From now on, you can join in for a Sunday Roast here every Sunday. Great if you’re into an original brunch or want to have an elaborate lunch with a group of friends on Sunday. Start beforehand with a coffee on the roofterrace if the weather’s nice and you’ll Sunday will be a definite blast!

Besides the normal lunch menu, Mr. Porter also serves several classic Sunday Roast dishes. Of course they’ve thought about the vegetarians among us asyou can also order a vegetarian menu with roasted cabbage and vegetarian side dishes.

But… to be completely honest… in the end you’re going to a Sunday Roast for the animal! And my-oh-my, I loved the animal of my choice. I chose the 21 day matured Sirloin steak from Scotland. There’s also a variety of lamb, wild turkey and a deliciously tender piece of a trotter. My lover had that one and it was also very tasty! A proper Sunday Roast with several grilled vegetables as a side, crunchy potatoes and a Yorkshire Pudding.

Make sure to order a Bloody Mary with it that the mixologist prepares for you at your table with the cocktail trolley. If you’d rather not have any alcohol… no worries! My virgin Bloody Mary was also very good.

The prices for dishes at the Sunday Roast at Mr. Porter vary from € 26,- to € 38,-. Still have some room left over for dessert? In that case the dessert with raspberries is a reccomendation!
