7 questions to Marte van Liere from lifestyle blog Moderne Hippies!

Delicious healthy food, traveling and enjoying life. The girls from Moderne Hippies know all about these things. In this week’s Sunday 7 the founder of the blog, Marte van Liere, tells all about her Amsterdam.

She likes to call herself a philanthropist and a realistic dreamer. One of her dreams is helping the world to become more beautiful and better with her blog. On Moderne Hippies, she writes along with a small team of girls with similar beliefs about all things good: healthy recipes, alternative hotspots and traveling tips, columns, personal diary stories and more.

Coffee?
Coffee Bru! A couple of minutes away from my house and they make the best coffee. The shop is inspired by South Africa. I lived in South Africa so I love going to this place just to reminisce my time there.”

Drinking spot
“I usually tell everyone to get out of De Pijp and have a drink in my neighbourhood: Amsterdam East! Bar Bukowski is definitely my go-to place. I enjoy meeting up there with my girlfriends and then of course I would order a cocktail at the Henry’s Bar.”

Sleeping with a view
“I would love to stay a night at the Farad NDSM Crane Hotel in Amsterdam North! A hotel in a “retired” crane; I can still remember when it was still very rusty.”

Hidden gem
“The real second hand stores in Amsterdam: Juttersdok. Don’t expect vintage hotchpotch: you really have to search and look through it. It’s all about the art of curation to pick the gems out of these stores. This way recycling becomes a whole lot more fun!”

Mmmm…
“A simple, fair and real Italian pasta has always been my favourite. Incanto used to be my favourite restaurant because of the really good quality. Recently, Segugio has become my number one.”

An overseas must eat!
“When I was in Jamaica, I went to the Floyd’s Pelican Bar: a hippie bar in the middle of the sea. It takes some effort to get there, but it is definitely worth it. When we arrived, a fish was just caught and we could eat it right after. More local and pure is hardly possible! So good.”
