The men behind the renowned Rue de La Bastille have joined forces with coffee connoisseur Michael Danner (formerly of Toki in the Jordaan). The result? Skina Amsterdam – a neighborhood café with excellent specialty coffee and accompanying high-quality sweet treats. And so, Bilderdijkstraat in Amsterdam West a new coffee hotspot.
'Skina' means 'corner' in Papiamento; it won't surprise you to learn that Skina Amsterdam is located on the corner of Bilderdijkstraat, directly across from Ikaria – another excellent coffee shop. We can safely say that Amsterdam Oud-West, and especially the area around Kwakeerplein, is a haven for coffee lovers. Besides the two mentioned, Lot61, Berry, and Bakkerij Loof are just a stone's throw away. What they all have in common? They all serve specialty coffee, all of the same high quality. Amsterdam West has many good coffee shops, and yet Skina is still a very welcome addition.

At Skina, you'll immediately feel at ease; the space is bright thanks to the many windows, and the seating is comfortable. The entire concept is spot on: from the interior (full of eye-catching primary colors) to the ambiance and the extensive menu. Add to that the fact that you'll immediately notice the staff's genuine passion for coffee. They're sure to find a solution for any doubter. You'll also find plenty to enjoy with your coffee; they source fresh pastries daily from Amsterdam's best bakeries—including Loof and Grammes—and make their savory spreads for bread in their own kitchen.
All in all, Skina best describes itself as an innovative coffee shop, unique in its kind and something that didn't yet exist in Amsterdam. That fact alone is reason enough to pay it a visit.
