Silk Amsterdam: the hotspot that brings dishes from the Silk Road to Amsterdam

Restaurant Silk Amsterdam is the new hotspot from Salvo Bakehouse and nNeapizzeria. You get the idea: it has to be good. Limau Chen and Paolo Manzo are working hard, and Silk is their latest addition. What will you eat here? The flavors you found (and still find) along the Silk Road. A fusion of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine that goes beyond the term "fusion."

Atmosphere and interior at Silk Amsterdam

Chen owns a pizzeria and two Italian bakeries, but wanted to do more with her heritage. And so, Silk was born: a place where they cook with the flavors found along the ancient Silk Road. Not classic Italian or Chinese dishes, but a fusion of the two. A novel concept with equally innovative flavors.

The interior is also reminiscent of Little Collins, which was previously located here. The long space has a relaxed, laid-back vibe, where you immediately feel at ease. The dark red walls have a stainless steel divider, which contrasts beautifully with the dark wood and green accents. An original interior, which is also coordinated with the kitchen.

Menu and dishes at Silk

The menu and dishes at Silk Amsterdam are a blend of Italian and Chinese cuisine (both part of the Silk Road). But before you start your dinner, kick off the evening with a unique cocktail or homemade soft drink from the mixologist.

Then the food: as you might expect from a place founded by an Italian bakery, the sourdough bread with smoked butter is absolutely delicious (we had to try not to eat too much—you know the feeling, I'm sure). The bread with the rich butter provides a nice contrast to the oysters, served with Japanese vinaigrette, cucumber, and salmon roe.

Prefer vegetarian? Then go for the cabbage skewers, deliciously seasoned with aioli and lemon. Go for the perfectly fried sea bass, served whole. Admittedly, it takes a little while to see through (the head is a bit intimidating), but if you do, it's undoubtedly one of the most delicious fish dishes you'll ever have.
