Shopping in Maastricht: not to miss streets Stokstraat, Rechtstraat and Heggenstraat

10 February 2013

Shopping in Maastricht, love it!

Maastricht is only a 2 hours drive from Amsterdam but a totally different world. I always have the feeling of being abroad when I’m there. I love shopping in Maastricht. There are so many small boutiques with cool labels that I advice to save some shopping money before you go there ;-). In the area around the Vrijthof and the Grote Markt you find all the high street brands like Zara and H&M. Much more fun are the smaller side streets. My favourite streets for shopping in Maastricht are: the Stokstraat, Rechtstraat and Heggenstraat. Indicated with coral colour in the map above!

1) Shopping in Maastricht – Heggenstraat

Tucked between the Platielstraat / Achter het Vleeshuis you find the Heggenstraat. The Heggenstraat is by far the most trendy street for shopping in Maastricht located in the city centre. It’s a narrow small street with cute boutiques. I love going there on a vintage shopping hunt, since Retro and Chic and Traders Pop both have a very good selection of vintage clothing. And after shopping Take 5 is a perfect hotspot for a cappuccino!

My favourite addresses at the Heggenstraat are: Retro en Chic (female fabulous vintage), Traders Pop (clothing, paper love and vintage), Muchachas (ladies designer boutique) , Take 5 (from coffee to cocktails)

2) Shopping in Maastricht – Stokstraat

The Stokstraat is all about labels! Name a high fashion brand and they have a boutique selling it. This street is perfect for high end shopping in Maastricht.

My favourite addresses at the Stokstraat are: Kiki Niesten (from Marni to Miu Miu) and Stylesuite Femme (from Burberry to Zadig & Voltaire)

3) Shopping in Maastricht – Rechtstraat

The Rechtstraat is located in the trendy area Wyck. This is the first shopping street you cross when going to Maastricht by train and opposite from the river Maas and the city centre. If you’re looking for something special for yourself or for your house the Rechtstraat is the place to go. Here you find many specialty fashion shops, delicatessens, bookshops, art dealers and interior design stores.

My favourite addresses at the Rechtstraat are: Concept Maastricht (great fashion), Tatz (retro), Vleugels&teugels (fair trade) and restaurant “O” (yummy au fruit de mere).
