𝗔 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗳𝗲́ 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆? @eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember. Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤 Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here! 📍 Eetcafé de Reiger Jordaan, Amsterdam City Center Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam. And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too! ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck
A grandma's cookbook. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home. The Sühring brothers don't cook based on trends; they cook based on memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations. @relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care. This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception. Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly? 🍴 Labskaus with caviar 🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar 🍴 Game pâté 🍴 Dry-aged Duck TIP: When you go to Sühring, reserve seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work! Follow @yourlbb for more tips you can trust. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck #prinvited #bangkok #michelin #relaischateaux In this reels, I take you along for fine dining in Bangkok at the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Sühring.
This is one of the best free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself at various locations in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can make it, we’ll go again. 📍In this video, I show you where you can fill your bucket. Comment *oester* for the comprehensive guide with all the details about all 8 locations + handy tips and rules. Important to know: – Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket) – For personal use only – Do not scoop or scrape the seabed – Go at low tide Handy things to bring: Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes, and garbage bags (for the oysters *and* dirty clothes). And of course: bring an oyster knife, lemon, and champagne too 🍋🥂 Because you’ll want to taste something right away, won’t you! The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing. In the full guide, I share exactly where you can easily find them, without much effort. Comment oyster and I'll send it to you right away! Who do you want to go oyster gathering with soon? ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 These are those few magical weeks each year when the city suddenly feels different. Everything is in bloom and all you want to do is be outside. Coffee to-go in hand, and just head out as soon as the sun shows up. 📍 Bloesempark – Amsterdamse Bos (the classic, yes it gets busy, but totally worth it) 📍 Rijksmuseum 📍 Fruit Garden of West 📍 Westerpark 📍 Jozef Israëlskade 📍 WG site 📍 Nelson Mandelapark 📍 Bos en Lommerplantsoen 📍Amstelpark By mid-April most of the sakura will already be gone, so if you want to catch it: this is your moment. I'll definitely be doing a few more rounds before it's over. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck _______________________________________________ 🌸 Discover the best places to spot cherry blossom in Amsterdam and enjoy the sakura in full bloom. 🌸
3 x home that has the ultimate green space. Not too big, everything within walking distance, but plenty of nice hotspots!! These services (and what clothing) are in the Netherlands 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗱𝗲𝘇𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲! I have massive spring fever, so it's time for a mini-escape: everything is within walking distance, there are lovely coffee shops, boutiques for shopping, and enough gems to discover in 48 hours ✨ Which city is at the top of your list for a spring getaway? This is your sign to plan your next weekend brunch with friends in Amsterdam 👀 @ottolenghi_amsterdam is officially open and the new go-to hotspot for flavors of the Levant. Walking in the Peak District

10 Fun Things to Do in Sheffield – The Outdoor City

The Peak District: We've mentioned it a few times already, but a visit to Sheffield isn't complete without a visit to the Peak District National Park. This large national park is less than half an hour outside the city and easily accessible from Sheffield by train (for example, to Hathersage) or bus (271 or 272). There are a wide variety of hikes to choose from, ranging in length and for all levels. This hilly area is also known for its numerous climbing opportunities, for those who want something a bit more adventurous!

Walk from The Fox House to Hathersage: You can make the hikes and walks around Sheffield as adventurous as you like. Fancy a challenging climb? Or perhaps you'd prefer a pleasant, easy walk, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and still have a good conversation? Then the walk we took from The Fox House to Hathersage is perfect. It starts at The Fox House, a well-known pub and inn in the area. Then you head towards Longshaw Estate, where you enter the woods for a two-hour walk through the Hope Valley. First, you'll walk across the heathland and along the river, then through the woods towards Padley Gorge. If you continue along the river, you'll eventually arrive in Hathersage, where you can grab a bite to eat and a drink at Bank House restaurant or Colemans Deli before taking the bus or train back to Sheffield. You can view the route we walked approximately via this link >>

Burbage and Stanage Edge: Next time we're in Sheffield, we're going to climb Burbage and Stanage Edge. These are two famous viewpoints on a rocky outcrop. The views from there are breathtaking!

Outdoor activities: Outdoor enthusiasts will have a blast in Sheffield. Besides walking, hiking, and mountaineering, there's much more to do. We even encountered several mountain bikers while out walking. If you'd like to get out on the water, there are opportunities for canoeing and kayaking in the Peak District. Also fun: you can try stand-up paddleboarding on the water in the city. Better known as SUP in the Netherlands! Through the organization DC Outdoors you can book several of these activities. Click here for an overview of outdoor activities in Sheffield >>

Street art: I'm a huge fan of street art myself. It's always surprising what you'll encounter when you stroll through a city where so many street artists have been at work. Sheffield is an industrial city, and the many murals and graffiti pieces fit perfectly into this raw landscape. If you walk from the station to the city center, you'll already come across a number of murals, for example, at the Howard Pub. Other areas where you'll find a lot of street art are the streets around Ecclesall Road, Division Street, and Kelham Island.

Kelham Island: This neighborhood was once the heart of the steel industry, and now you'll find industrial buildings transformed into museums, restaurants, and galleries. Highly recommended for a delicious meal and drinks!

Peddler Night Market: Unfortunately, we weren't in Sheffield for the weekend, but if we had been, we would definitely have gone to the Peddler Night Market. This night market on Kelham Island is open Friday evenings and Saturdays from noon. It's a creative hub with plenty of delicious food from food stalls and trucks, drinks spots, and live music. This is where the locals ring in the weekend!

Indoor Food Markets: During a city break, I always enjoy checking out the city's indoor food markets. Here you can enjoy (affordable) delicious street food and enjoy a drink. There are two indoor food markets in Sheffield. commune is a food market located in the city center, where you'll find food stalls from all over, as well as excellent coffee from Tamper. There's also a small art gallery. On Kelham Island, you'll find the recently opened food market. Cutlery WorksHere you can also enjoy a drink at one of the long beer tables, and for the kids there's an indoor sandbox.

Great streets: Of course, I also searched for the best streets in Sheffield where you can discover unique shops, galleries, and hotspots. For example, head to Ecclesall Road, where you'll mainly encounter locals. You'll find various restaurants, coffee shops, and shops. The street starts at Hunters Bar, the roundabout near Endcliffe Park. Near Sharrowvale Road, you'll find many restaurants where you can also grab a bite to eat in the park when the weather is nice. In Sheffield city center, Division Street is a must-see. Here you'll find cozy pubs and several attractive concept stores.

Winter Garden: This is the place to go for a slice of nature in the heart of the city. The Winter Garden is a free-entry greenhouse near the Town Hall, where you can unwind among the tropical plants.

Good to know: We spent a total of two nights/three days in Sheffield, exploring the city on our arrival and departure days, and venturing into nature on the second day. A perfect combination!

17 X hotspots in Sheffield for food and drinks

Craft and Dough: For the best pizza in town, head to Craft and Dough. They have several locations in Sheffield, and we ate at the one on Kelham Island. Besides pizza, they're also a great place for brunch during the day.

The Street Food Chef: The Street Food Chef's tacos are a household name and you definitely have to try them. We had the beef tacos with a mild salsa (which was actually quite spicy!). It's not a place for a lavish meal, but it was delicious!

The Botanist: This Sheffield hotspot is a must-see, as the interior is so charming. It feels like you're dining in a garden with a giant greenhouse. The menu features Mediterranean dishes and excellent cocktails.

Mowgli Street Food: Whenever I'm in the UK, I always look for places to eat delicious Indian food. Mowgli Street Food opened on Ecclesall Road a few months ago. The dishes are perfect for sharing and delicious. Definitely order the yogurt chat bombs! Such a unique explosion of flavors.

The Iguanas: Fancy an evening of cocktails and delicious Latin American dishes to share? Then Las Iguanas is the place to be! This vibrantly decorated venue is also a great place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat at the end of the day.

Ink & Water Coffee: Another great coffee shop! If you're there, be sure to check out the gallery on the first floor.

Ashoka Indian Restaurant: This trendy Indian restaurant is one of the best in the city. Order a few curries to share and sample as much as possible!

The Depot Bakery: One of the nicest hotspots on Kelham Island, where they make delicious bread in their own bakery. If you look closely, you'll see that the breads are also proudly featured on the menus of other establishments. Highly recommended for breakfast!

Audience: Fancy a drink after dinner? Then head to the tiny cocktail bar Public, housed in a former public restroom.

Ego: This restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine and is located right behind the Winter Garden in the heart of the city center. The interior is bright and airy, but especially atmospheric in the evenings!

smoke: The carnivores among us want to go to Smoke. Here, it's all about the best meat off the grill. And honestly, if you walk by and smell the aroma, you just want to go in!

The Milestone: One of the city's best gastropubs is located on Kelham Island. The Milestone serves traditional English dishes with a twist. The interior is very atmospheric!

Tamper Coffee: This coffee shop is easily one of the nicest hotspots in Sheffield. They have two locations, and the one on Westfield Terrace is a true coffee shop where you go for the best coffee and a delicious cake. 'Tamper Sellers Wheel' is larger and also serves excellent breakfast and brunch. We went there before hiking in the Peak District and had the perfect base!

Steam Yard: This coffee shop is tucked away in a courtyard along Division Street. This is the place to go for the best doughnuts and cruffins (a cross between a croissant and a muffin).

Pineapple: Piña on Kelham Island is the place to go for taco cravings if you're looking for a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Besides various tacos, they also have delicious sides on the menu, like ceviche.

Jöro Restaurant: I think you could safely say this is the best restaurant in Sheffield. They have a Bib Gourmand and a Michelin Guide listing, and they serve a menu consisting of many smaller dishes. It's especially special to sit at the two-person table in the kitchen!

Riverside Kelham: Fancy an authentic pub? Riverside Kelham is a must-visit near Kelham Island. Walk there via the Upper Don Trail so you can also check out the street art by the terrace!

3 X fun shopping addresses in Sheffield

Say Paloma: On our way back from hiking in the Peak District, we stopped at Ecclesall Road. A street lined with restaurants and smaller boutiques, like Say Paloma. A small concept store with beautiful, self-designed bohemian jewelry and clothing that the owner has made in India. I bought a few beautiful rings there as a souvenir and a memento of our wonderful days in Sheffield.

Collard Manson: I only had hand luggage when traveling to Sheffield, but otherwise I would definitely have bought some items for our new home at Collard Manson. From beautiful colored glasses to cushion covers, rugs, candle holders, and more beautiful homeware, to unique jewelry, clothing, and accessories. This shop is incredibly beautiful. Luckily, they also have an online store.

Moonko: Whenever I see a "green" hotspot like Moonko, I always have to stop by. This mixed-use shop sells plants, but also many fair-trade and organic lifestyle brands designed or made in Sheffield. From jewelry to beauty products. If you're anywhere near Division Street, definitely pop in!

Sheffield Travel Tips

GETTING THERE: There are two airports near Sheffield: Doncaster (served by Flybe, among others) and Manchester (served by EasyJet, among others). We flew into Manchester and took the direct train from there to Sheffield. It's a lovely train journey of about 1 hour and 15 minutes, with a large portion of the journey passing through the Peak District.

WHAT TO PACK: If you're going to Sheffield, take sturdy walking shoes, a raincoat, a refillable water bottle, a power bank (so you never run out of your smartphone's GPS while out walking) and a UK-compatible plug.

The Peak District

TRANSPORT IN SHEFFIELD: Sheffield has an excellent bus system that even lets you explore the Peak District. Buses 171 and 172, for example, will take you to The Fox Hound, from where many walking trails start. There's also a local train that stops in several villages. Uber is also an option, as there are plenty of them. Convenient if you want to return to your hotel after dinner on Kelham Island.

WHERE TO STAY: To be fair, there aren't any trendy boutique hotels in Sheffield yet. During this trip, we stayed at the Mercure St. Paul's, which is centrally located right next to the Town Hall and the Winter Garden. It's the best location if you're looking for a hotel in Sheffield city center. I found several tiny houses for rent on Airbnb that are located outside the city center on the edge of the Peak District. They're also very nice!
