Massalia

At Massalia – a sister to Gitane – they serve Greek-inspired dishes but in a brasserie/bistro style. There’s also a focus on wine (natural and traditional wines) and a special cocktail menu. The dishes are relatively small and perfect for sharing.

Caffé Pico

Like Bellini, Caffé Pico is ideal for enjoying authentic Italian dishes with your friends. The menu at this new hotspot mainly consists of dishes to share. With a table full of unique dishes, a nice wine, or a matching cocktail, time will fly by.

Petit Caron said goodbye to the Gerard Doustraat last year but not to close its doors for good, as the Frans Halsstraat location is now up and running! Turbo Amsterdam – a sibling of Café De Tros, also in Amsterdam-Oost – is a hangout spot where you’ll want to stay all day. You can, as they serve coffee, brunch, snacks, and dinner. During the day, enjoy a haute snack bar with dishes like an ultra-chic kroket sandwich and delicious pizettas, Caesar salads, and halibut. All are perfect for sharing, except for dessert: you’ll want to keep that soft serve for yourself.

Badcuyp

Badcuyp’s cooking style is ‘no-nonsense’ and ‘wood-fired’. The menu is promising: from Baambrugse pork rib to morels with rabbit leg and Dutch yellowtail kingfish. You get it: dishes that are perfect for sharing.

In both Oost and West, you’ll find a favourite spot for many: Le French Café. The menu at Le French Café features mainly French classics, perfect for a traditional French brasserie experience. From fruit de mer to oeufs mayo, ‘bun bourgignon,’ and baguette with butter.

Stacks Diner

At Stacks, they cook in the style of American ‘homestyle cooking.’ It’s exactly what it sounds like: simple dishes prepared as a true American would at home, from a classic Caesar salad to crispy fish with slaw. The homemade cornbread is a definite hit, as are the Bloody Mary, Dirty Martini, and Paloma.

Masmais Marisqueria

Ceviche, tacos, tostadas, and quesadillas are enough reasons to visit Masmais Marisqueria. At this spot – a sibling to the Taqueria (see below) – it’s all about fish. And you won’t get enough of it here. The sea bream, for example, is a must-share.

Masmais Taqueria

The Taqueria is also perfect for shared dining. As the name suggests, you eat tacos here as you would in Mexico. They come in all shapes and sizes, from fish to meat and vegetarian – in the latter case, you’ll especially want to try the one with pumpkin.

Bacalar

Bacalar Amsterdam is a hotspot where you’ll need to book early. Once you’ve secured a spot, you’re in for a spectacular evening. The former chef of Coba (arguably one of the best taquerias in the city) opened this venue a few years ago, and it was an instant success. Expect a Mexican evening with unique flavours you’ve never tasted before.

Metro

Not far from Bacalar, you’ll find Metro – an all-day hotspot perfect for visiting with the whole family. The best time to drop by is around lunchtime because, from noon, they start serving several delicious dishes on their rotating menu. Don’t hesitate to order various dishes from the menu, and make sure not to skip the snacks.

Barracuda opened its doors in 2024 and has quickly become the renowned seafood restaurant on the Aambeeldstraat. They have a unique approach: each table receives a menu where you can check off the dishes you want to share. From ricotta toast and shellfish in white wine to fennel with samphire – there’s plenty of choice for vegetarians too, making it perfect for shared dining.

Bennies

After the massive success of several pop-ups, Bennies has opened its permanent location. The site of their last pop-up is now their official home, and the reviews have been nothing but glowing. The Gamba Roja Tostada is a must-share, as is the burrata.

Paskamer

Head to Paskamer in
De Pijp for small dishes and excellent (matching) cocktails! The menu here is designed for shared dining so that you can try many delicious options. Think of dishes from various cuisines, like sweet potato fries, barbarian duck rillettes, melanzane parmigiana (grilled eggplant), and scallops. But honestly, everything here is delicious.

Louie Louie

Recently opened, this new hotspot in Oost is an excellent all-day spot with an extensive drinks and bites menu. But you must try the Conjõ Lekker: a platter full of delicious bites to share! It features various tacos, quesadillas, ceviche, and other small dishes. Editor Lise personally recommends it, claiming you won’t find a more surprisingly tasty platter anywhere in Amsterdam.

Little Collins

At Little Collins in
De Pijp, you can enjoy a delicious brunch, but they’re also open for dinner on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The menu features wonderful dishes to share, such as oysters, bruschetta with pear and roasted pecans, and confit salmon. Bon appétit!

Pata Negra

You’ll feel the warm Spanish vibes as soon as you walk in. And just like in Spain, you can eat late into the night here. The kitchen stays open until 11:30 PM on weekends! That means a whole evening of ordering tapas!
