Staying by the sea: 23 of the best beach hotels and beach houses in the Netherlands

March 3 2025
Last updated: May 14, 2025

There's nothing better than waking up with a sea view. Not just abroad, but in the Netherlands too! That's why I've compiled a list of my favorite seaside hotels (and sometimes even right on the beach) for you. I say hotels, but to complete the selection for the perfect staycation and a mini road trip through the Netherlands, I've also included the nicest beach houses, from Zeeland All the way to Bloemendaal, compiled into one ultimate list. The result? No fewer than 22 seaside hotels and the most beautiful beach houses throughout the Netherlands, where you can sit with your feet in the sand until late at night.

Perhaps you recognize this, because what's more relaxing than looking out over the water? How nice is it to drink a glass of wine on your own balcony at the end of the day and feel like you're in France for a moment? With a year full of staycations This list is also perfect for shorter trips so you can always visit different beautiful places The Netherlands discover. To compile this fantastic list of seaside hotels, I only considered hotels located directly on the sea, in the dunes, or within 500 meters of the beach. I say: dig your toes in the sand, a cold drink in hand, and enjoy!

Think twinkling lights, mulled wine, food stalls, live music, unique gifts and lots of Christmas vibes all December long. Whether you're planning a festive day with the fam or friends, or just want to soak up that holiday spirit. These are the markets in Amsterdam to put on your calendar now. 🎄✨ 𝘿𝙧𝙤𝙥 “𝘾𝙃𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙈𝘼𝙎𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙆𝙀𝙏” 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄'𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝙔𝙇𝘽𝘽-𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙢𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙨. HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on with my passport to an old lady who doesn't realize it and checks it in for a flight to the UK! Now I'm stuck here in NY without my passport, and I've missed my flight. I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅. This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢 Note to self: better to take my passport with me all day, instead of leaving it 'safely' in the hotel apparently... and from now on, suitcases should be tied together with a cable in the storage room. Even if you're in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still human work. Now I'm stuck in one of the nicest cities in the world, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel as planned. 😔 To be continued 🧳✈️ And thanks for all the sweet DMs ❤️❤️❤️❤️ ✖️✖️✖️ Anne
And do you also have a nice garden? I want to thank you for your patience and help. 𝟳-𝗷𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲! This time we went to @williams.farmhouse one of my favorites for lunch in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is this also fun during the day with kids? We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success. Child happy, us happy… and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean this interior, I immediately dream away to the Cotswolds again! 23 Beach Hotels and Seaside Cottages in the Netherlands You Want to Know

The Beach Hotel (Cadzand-Bad): Staying at Het Strandhotel is still high on my bucket list. This hotel also boasts wonderful restaurants, and we're especially curious about what new features await us at the famous Pure C in Cadzand. You can book various packages, but you can also reserve individual rooms. The rooms are modern yet warmly decorated, and the balcony or terrace (also available with a sea view) features Piet Boon furniture.

Maris Apartments (Egmond aan Zee): I'm a firm believer in always having something to look forward to. In September, we're spending a long weekend enjoying the late summer at Maris Apartments in Egmond aan Zee. Of course, staying by the sea in the middle of summer is fantastic, but it's especially enjoyable in the fall, when you practically have the beaches to yourself and the temperatures are still mild. When I contacted the team behind these incredibly beautiful (and wonderfully luxurious) apartments during the booking process, I was told that they're also very popular in the winter for celebrating holidays like Christmas or New Year's Eve. And I have to say... I'll keep that in mind!

Beach Villas (Hoek van Holland): On the North Sea coast, near Hoek van Holland, lie the beautiful Largo Beach Villas. Here, you'll wake up surrounded by dunes with a sea view. Choose one of the many cycling and walking routes or simply enjoy the sea. The numerous water sports are literally on your doorstep. Another great option: the coastal tram takes you to Rotterdam, The Hague, and Delft in no time.

Poort Beach Boutique Apartments (Bloemendaal): Whenever we drive past this hotel, I always think of De Efteling. Such a unique building! For years, I've wondered what it would look like inside. And I can tell you, it looks perfect for a wonderful staycation. Let's be honest: there's hardly a better location in Bloemendaal aan Zee. Hopefully, we can check in again this summer, because I expect the rooms will be filling up fast!

Vesper Hotel (Noordwijk aan Zee): This charming boutique hotel is located on Noordwijk's boulevard. Each room is uniquely decorated, and some rooms offer sea views. The hotel is owned by the same people as Beachclub Bries, and after a day at the beach, you simply have to cross the boulevard to reach the hotel. Vesper also has a lovely restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a drink later in the evening. As a bonus, as a hotel guest, you can use the facilities of the Azzurro Wellness Centre, just over a kilometer from the hotel, free of charge. Tip: Don't forget to make a reservation at the charming beach tents in Noordwijk such as Tulum Tulum.

Logis Strandhotel Camperduin (Schoorl): The area around Schoorl is so beautiful! Enjoy walking through the dunes. Relax (with the kids) on the beach, dine on fish in the evening, and then curl up in bed at Logis Strandhotel Camperduin. A wonderful base right behind the beach. Tip: This hotel is also a great base for a morning trip to Alkmaar.

Blooming Hotel (Bergen): Okay, okay. I said a maximum of 500 meters from the beach. At Blooming, I'm cheating a bit, because their beach club is right ON the beach, but the hotel is six kilometers away, surrounded by forest and on the edge of the dunes. It has its own restaurant (Vigor), lovely rooms, and an indoor pool and sauna, making it a perfect base in the fall as well.

Sea Lodges (Bloemendaal): It's truly my dream to one day own a second home like these. Since it'll probably remain a dream, a weekend stay in one of these lovely Sea Lodges is much more achievable. These beach houses near Bloemendaal are beautifully bright and modernly furnished, and have a lovely terrace where you can relax. They're nestled right in the dunes near Bloemendaal aan Zee, and you can walk straight onto the beach. It doesn't get any better than this!

The six rooms are beautifully decorated and bright, each with a slightly different layout. Each room has its own kitchenette, equipped with a microwave, kettle, and toaster, so you can always prepare something "at home." And perhaps best of all: this villa is just 30 meters from the beach.

Dune Hotel Tien Torens (Zoutelande): How cool does this "green" hotel look? I should actually say apartment-hotel, because you can also book lodges with private kitchens. There are family rooms, double rooms, and dogs are welcome upon request. The hotel is located right behind the Zoutelande dunes, just 400 meters from the beach.

Fingers crossed for a beautiful summer, because then it's a wonderful place to be at the foot of Vlissingen's boulevard. Badhotel Rockanje (Rockanje): Just 400 meters from the beach, nestled in the dunes of Rockanje, you'll find this seaside hotel that immediately reminds me of a lodge in an American national park. The Pier Suites (Scheveningen): Should I say "by the sea" or "on the sea"? This hotel is literally located on the Scheveningen pier, with the sea and water views below. Open the doors to your room, crack open a bottle of wine or enjoy another refreshing drink, and all you have to do is relax and enjoy your staycation. There's a food hall on the pier, or make a reservation at one of the restaurants on the boulevard. But honestly? I'd recommend having something delivered and eating at home with a sea view!
