I have very good news for all the lovers of winter cozinessAfter a year's absence, the iconic ice rink on the Museumplein in Amsterdam back! Er can go through daily young and old Ice skating on one of the city's most beautiful squares. As far as I'm concerned, this is the place to meet this winter. with friends (with kids), family or a date to enjoy a fun outdoor activity. And the best news? The Ice rink on the Museumplein takes care of skating fun all winter long and there it is until February 6, 2026!
Ice Skating Rink at Museumplein: A Winter Must-Do in Amsterdam
Did you know that there already since 1864 is skating on the Museumplein? This long tradition of open-air skating was once initiated by the Amsterdam Ice Club, and now Ice*Amsterdam Foundation revive this historic initiative.
I experienced how much skating connects people and how much fun it is with kids during my recent trip to New York, where the ice rink is already up and running. My son had so much fun skating together and having fun on the ice that he's thrilled now that the ice rink is here. all winter right in front of the Rijksmuseum also in Amsterdam skating rink coming.
More than just ice skating: also drinks and winter snacks at the Ice Rink on Museumplein
Want to take a break while skating? Or relax after skating? lunch, drinks or a bite to eat in the evening? There is also a restaurant near the ice rink. After an hour of skating, there's nothing better than warming up with a warme chocolatemelk or a glass of mulled wineDon't tell anyone, but I personally think you get the best food at the outdoor bar! Also nice: for the kids they serve among other things pancakes.

Tip for the Christmas holidays: Christmas village
During the December period, the Museumplein becomes even more charming. From 4 until December 26 you can combine skating with a visit to the Christmas Village Amsterdam, the city's Christmas market. I'm looking forward to browsing the stalls with Christmas gifts and treats. It's Christmas at its finest at Museumplein!
