Samuel's Amsterdam: the no-nonsense neighborhood brasserie on the corner of Sarphatipark

Samuel's Amsterdam opened its doors in the Pijp district in October. A place for coffee, lunch, and dinner, where you can enjoy classics like a 12-uurtje (12 o'clock snack), banana bread, a breakfast burrito, and a good cup of coffee. In the evening, you can tuck into dishes like steak tartare, burrata, schnitzel, or rib-eye at this new hip hotspot in the Pijp.

Atmosphere and interior at Samuel's Amsterdam

Whether you're here for an omelet, a "neighborhood cup of coffee," a breakfast burrito, or to relax with the newspaper, Samuel's Amsterdam always has a warm atmosphere. This is thanks in part to the friendly staff, the beautiful building, and the original, vintage decor. The restaurant is larger than it initially appears; in addition to a large terrace with small round tables and a long wooden bench, there are no fewer than three (!) floors to sit on. Upon entering, you'll find the hangout coffee area, downstairs is the bar (perfect for a date!), and upstairs is a dining area.

This no-nonsense hotspot, located on the corner of Tweede Jan Steenstraat and right next to Sarphatipark, is open from early morning until late at night. You could call it a neighborhood brasserie, as prices are relatively low—by Amsterdam standards, anyway—to keep things accessible.

Menu and dishes at Samuel's

You can get a black coffee (Buurt Bakkie) at Samuel's for just €1,95, and a cappuccino for just a euro more. Everything else on the menu is simple but excellent. You'll find classics like schnitzel and steak tartare, as well as roasted cauliflower, bitterballen, and fries.

In the morning, you can grab homemade croissants and banana bread to go with your coffee, or a good old omelet. In short: a hotspot for young, old, and everyone in between.

Samuel's is perfect for a casual date night or coffee date

Whether you're looking for a quick bite to eat with (young) kids, planning a date, or spontaneously grabbing a bite with friends, Samuel's is the place to be. And that alone makes it a true asset to the Pijp.

Tip: you can also find these (new) restaurants in De Pijp
