Want to be there: Samsung opens a Korean neighborhood supermarket S26Mart in North and treats to a free banchan-style lunch or dinner

A temporary hotspot in Amsterdam North where food and tech come together: at S26Mart, you put together your own Korean banchan lunch or dinner with the help of AI.

Did you know that Samsung once started out as a humble Korean neighborhood grocery store? From April 8 to 12, they are paying homage to these roots with the opening of S26Mart at Benelux Bar in Noord. The best news? You are invited to stop by this interactive food experience where you can sit down for a Korean banchan-style lunch or dinner. Spaces are limited, so read quickly here on Your Little Black Book what you can expect and book your spot immediately!

What is a banchan diner & how does the S26Mart work?

If you have ever eaten Korean food, you might already know it: banchan. These are all small dishes that you share and eat with rice. Think of fermented vegetables, warm bites, and typical Korean seasonings to complement the rice.

What makes this pop-up different from a 'regular' dinner is that you put together your own dish, just like walking through a Korean convenience store. Together with the Samsung Galaxy S26, you are the director of your own dinner!

This is what you can expect during lunch or dinner:

  • Entrance: You start with a drink to get in the mood.
  • Shopping: Afterwards, you enter the colorful S26Mart and receive a basket to collect your ingredients.
  • Pick & scan: Use the Samsung Galaxy S26 to take photos of the products, which are instantly recognized by AI and added to your digital shopping cart. Expect neon vibes and lots of Instagrammable photo spots.
  • Samsung Galaxy S26 as a sous-chef: Now for the best part! Google Gemini puts together three unique, personalized dishes for you to choose from.
  • Let's cook: As soon as your choice has been placed, the Korean chefs will get to work for you.
  • Authentic banchan dinner: The dishes are freshly prepared by chefs and served with a variety of banchan (side dishes), characteristic of Korean dining tradition. Enjoy your meal!

Why you don't want to miss the S26Mart

This Korean experience, for which you don't need to take a plane, promises to be so cool. Not just because of the food, but because of the entire experience where the latest Korean food hypes and Galaxy AI merge. I've already made a reservation and am definitely going to check it out!

While eating, you have plenty of time to further explore the Samsung Galaxy S26 and experience for yourself everything this new device can do. Photo Assist, for example, is fun to test! With this, you can give every photo a social media-worthy AI glow-up. Another nice feature is the world's first built-in 'Privacy Display,' which is now available on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Thanks to this special screen, other people (for example, those sitting next to you in a restaurant) cannot look over your shoulder at your phone. And for those who are completely fed up with bad photos or videos caused by neon lights or rooms that are too dark… the improved Nightography feature captures perfect shots thanks to the new Horizontal Lock feature. You can imagine that I am very curious to test this myself, because you can picture that at Your Little Black Book, hundreds of photos and videos are taken every week in the hospitality industry and while traveling :-).
