&Samhoud Places Amsterdam: streetfood concept

9 April 2014

Tasty streetfood at &Samhoud Places

&Samhoud Places has a new concept! From now on it’s all about streetfood. Not just ordinary streetfood but the most delicious dishes inspired by the travels of Chef Moshik Roth. From India to Israel, the menu has all flavours. And with a new food concept, comes a new interior concept! The huge couch is gone which gives the restaurant a much more open look. The coming weeks there will be more changes to the interior. I’m really curious what the restaurant will look like!

My love and I had the privilege to come over for dinner to try and test the new streetfood concept. What I really like about this concept is that it’s super laid back. The dishes don’t look too complicated but are very special when it comes to the taste. Another thing I like is that they are great to share. And since my love and I are true food twins we did a night of sharing to taste as much different dishes as possible :-).

You probably hears about the famous tomeato burger from &Samhoud Places before. This burger tastes and looks like a real burger, but the patty is made from 100% tomato. WOW! A must try if you go to &Samhoud for dinner. We got a mini burger as an amuse. Nom nom nom!

We start our culinary streetfood experience with a very special dish. Quite an uncommon combination I have to admit! A croissant Tunesian style with tuna, egg, potato and harissa. I know it sounds all but standard, but it’s a delicious combination If you are at &Samoud Places for lunch… try and taste it yourself!

Another delicious appetiser is the vietnamese spring roll. This dish is not fried like you might expect but raw and filled with vegetables. This spring roll is served with a yummy spicy sauce.

If you have been to a Korean restaurant before you know that they like to eat everything rolled up in a leaf of lettuce. We tasted ‘sam’ with chicken, oyster, soy sauce and white kimchi in our rolled up lettuce leaf. By making a roll and eating it all in once the tastes are the best. Can highly recommend this dish!

For the main courses we had the beef chimichuri, Bombay classic and the Jerusalem delight. And that’s exactly why I love shared dining… Choosing the dishes is much easier that way :-).

For dessert we share cheese and bakes banana with coconut cream.

Since the opening of &Samhoud Places this hotspot is one of the restaurants in Amsterdam where I go back all the time. Sometimes for the oyster happy hour on saturday or just for dinner with friends. The service is always great and the staff super friendly. In May we’re going to have dinner at the Michelin star restaurant** of &Samhoud Places. I can’t wait!

Tip: &Samhoud Places had a nice terrace overlooking the water.
