Sagardi Amsterdam: taste the dishes from the Spanish Basque Country

Perhaps the name Sagardi rings a bell! You'll find this Spanish restaurant throughout Spain and in a growing number of global cities, including London and YES, and now Amsterdam! Anyone who's dined there will be thrilled that Sagardi Amsterdam no longer requires a plane. Authentic dishes from the Basque Country are made with ingredients sourced specifically from Spain That's why the quality at this Amsterdam spot is just as good as you remember from the Sagardi, where you might have eaten in Barcelona. They're open from lunch to dinner and are also very family-friendly. Kids can request a separate menu, but eating with their parents and sampling as much as possible is just as much fun. I've been to Sagardi a few times now, and it's always delicious. On my last visit, it felt like I was reliving my trip to Bilbao and San Sebastian, the food was so delicious!

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢 Straight from the airport to this little spot to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉
Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre). PUUR JONNIE, an ode to Jonnie Boer. Today I had the honor of being at @delibrijezwolle for the book launch of @jonnie_en_therese. I spent the entire evening reading and browsing. WHAT A BOOK. This is your ticket to Japan without taking a plane 🥢 @tewatashi.ams in De Pijp serves an authentic Edo-Mae Sushi Experience and is super consistent in their quality. It's the place we keep going back to when we have something to celebrate <3. In this video I'm sharing the 2 hour experience in 60 seconds. Still dreaming about the buttery ika nigiri. 🤤 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam serving premium sushi omakase in De Pijp }

The menu of Sagardi Amsterdam

I mentioned it before, but at Sagardi, you'll find authentic Basque dishes on the menu. The big secret behind this restaurant's reputation in Spain? As I chat with the chef, it quickly becomes clear: the charcoal grill, specially designed for Sagardi and the heart of the kitchen in all its restaurants. At Sagardi, the meat is aged in special cabinets, ensuring it reaches its full flavor and is wonderfully tender by the time it goes on the grill.

But let me start with the appetizers. I highly recommend ordering several appetizers to share. For example, the "Bonito" (belly of white tuna with anchovy fillet from Getaria) and the traditionally grilled "Txistorra" (Basque sausage from Orio).

For the main course, I highly recommend the house specialties. Fancy fish? Then go for the whole turbot, which is cleaned tableside and perfect for sharing. Carnivores among us, as you've already read at Sagardi, can also indulge themselves. The beef tenderloin is highly recommended; the peppers served with it are divine!

Still have room left? The cheesecake for dessert is too good not to try.

The interior of Sagardi Amsterdam

Lots of wood, square and round tables, and long tables for families. The interior of Sagardi Amsterdam feels like a warm bath. The Pincho Bar is located on the Spuistraat side. Walk past the open kitchen with the grill to the Singel side and you'll find the restaurant area. The herringbone stone floor and mural complete the interior. On both sides of the restaurant, there's a narrow terrace where you can enjoy outdoor seating. Are you looking for a delicious restaurant in heart of the center Then Sagardi is truly a place to remember. You'll be blown away by the quality, service, and passion for Basque cuisine!

Pincho bar for the real Spanish feeling

Sagardi also has a cozy pincho bar at the front of the restaurant. Normally, pinchos are displayed there, just like in Spain, for you to help yourself and count the skewers. Unfortunately, the pincho bar is currently closed, but we'll keep you updated as soon as you can enjoy pinchos at Sagardi again.

I did get another piece of exciting news from the Sagardi team. One of the chefs from Barcelona is opening a new Mexican restaurant in Amsterdam. If it's as good as Sagardi's, we'll be fans already!
