Will you be in Cape Town soon, or perhaps you're here now? Then we have a great tip for you! On weekends, the Route 44 Market Stellenbosch is the place to be if you're staying in (or near) Cape Town. It seems like the entire village of Stellenbosch comes out to have drinks with friends. This market is about a 15-minute drive from Stellenbosch and 45 minutes from Cape Town. I expected the farmers market to be a bit more picturesque, but Route 44 Market Stellenbosch is actually more of a food and craft market.

In the food hall at Route 44 Market Stellenbosch, delicious aromas greet you. Dozens of food stands sell homemade dishes, from homemade lemonade to Lebanese food, and from dim sum to savory pancakes. It's a great place to go for lunch and share a variety of dishes. We shared a pita bread with lamb, dim sum, and Lebanese snacks, including dolmades. Yum! And be sure to try the cranberry lemonade.

A band plays on the lawn, and there are several bars where you can buy wine and craft beer. There are also various stalls with clothing, jewelry, and souvenirs, but if you ask me, Route 44 Market Stellenbosch is best enjoyed for the food!
