Atmosphere and Interior at Romios Taverna Amsterdam
After a six-month renovation, the doors of Romios Taverna Amsterdam have reopened! And they haven’t wasted any time: the restaurant’s renovation in the Pijp has been thoroughly undertaken.
Chef Nikos is eager to introduce the Dutch to authentic Greek flavours and cuisine: ‘My goal is to familiarise people with Greek hospitality and all the colours that Greek cuisine offers. My cooking is connected to memories from my childhood; every scent and flavour takes me back in time.’

At Romios Taverna Amsterdam, you can still enjoy delicious takeaways (treat yourself or your guests to their delightful Greek mezze, outstanding olive oil, and other delicacies directly from Greece). Of course, guests can spend the evening indulging in Nikos’ Greek specialities in the taverna section. Think cold mezze like tzatziki (which tastes just as good as it does in Greece), dolmades, tirosalata (aka spicy feta dip – a must, if you ask us), and artichoke salad. But the warm dishes are just as fantastic. Step off the beaten path and try their garides saganaki (spicy prawns), revithia (chickpea soup), kontosouvli chicken, or Kali oreksi and yamas!

Planning a dinner at home, or looking for a low-key restaurant to dine with friends? Then Romios is the place to be. The raki flows freely, the staff are super friendly, and, as mentioned, the flavours are irresistible. Success guaranteed.
