California Road Trip – From San Francisco to Santa Barbara in 9 Days! Part 2

Road trip West Coast California: Morro Bay – Santa Barbara – Cambria (part 2 of 4)

Road trip California: The story continues… Did you miss part 1? Then watch here.

It's a four-hour drive from Morro Bay to Santa Barbara, so we're leaving early in the morning. We took a wrong turn somewhere, so we're now driving through Oceano and passing a real diner. Rock 'n Roll Diner. It's so cool that we stopped here for breakfast! It was so much fun! Exactly how I imagine a real 60s diner to be. From Lolliepop to Locomotion, I'm singing along to every classic song that comes on.

Sun, Sea, Beach, Wine, Sama Sama Kitchen: Santa Barbara!

Finally, we're in Santa Barbara. Ahhh, the warmth, the sun, the sea, love it. It's packed with restaurants, (coffee) bars, and shops.

Santa Barbara

The first thing we do? Buy a nice bottle of wine. We put on our bikinis and head to the beach.

If you love wine, join us at the tasting rooms on Anacapa and Yanonali Street. It's so much fun! But why do they have to open so early (6-7 am)? We'll be enjoying a surprising and delicious Chenin Blanc with it. Kunin Wines Tasting Room (a bit more chic than the rest) and one at Municipal Winemakers Tasting Room (cool decor!).

more wine!

Before we head back to Cambria, we really need to have lunch at Sama Sama KitchenThis place looks hip, and the food is amazingly delicious! They open at 4 p.m., so at 4:5 p.m. we're sitting at a table, staring at the waiter. Hungry! Unfortunately, they only serve happy hour until 5 p.m., so we order everything from that menu. Of course, we're familiar with prawn crackers, which we eat often, but it's not really special. But the chicken wings and gado gado salad are so good! Because they taste so good, we wait until 5 p.m. and then order the nasi campur and eggplant from the evening menu. Definitely eat here if you're in the area. And try to get a table in the garden.

Last coastal town: Cambria

It is already evening when we arrive in Cambria. We have a room at Sea Otter InnAnd honestly, what lovely people and a super cute interior. It even has a small fireplace. And the sea is right across the street. Beautiful view! The restaurant Sea Chest Oyster Bar and Restaurant is nearby. With its dark, wooden interior, small lamps, and old-fashioned carpeting, it feels like stepping into my great-grandmother's living room (not that I've ever been there, but it must have looked like that).

Tomorrow: Sonoma! Yeah, wine, wine, wine!

Ga here on to part 3…
