New expo: Rhythm & Roots until October 30 at Het Tropenmuseum

11 May 2016

from jazz to salsa, from hiphop to rock-‘n-roll

Good news: from May 13, a new exposition Rhythm & Roots is opening at the Amsterdam Tropenmuseum. An exposition which is in the light of transboundary music. Music is universal, it does something with people. It moves and it makes you move. During a visit to Rhythm & Roots, you’re going on a musical journey. But you don’t have to go to New Orleans nor New York, but you just have to jump on your bike to Amsterdam East.

While walking around at this exposition, you’ll learn where some music trends emerged. Where are the roots of blues, jazz and hip hop from for example? Discover it on the basis of video, music clips, backgrounds and instruments. Admire the guitar of legend Jimi Hendrix, the motor jacket of Elvis and the cape of James Brown. Go have a look, until October 30, at Het Tropenmuseum! Read all about this exposition here.

Tip: have lunch at Grand Cafe de Tropen before or after a visit to the museum or stroll in the beautiful renewed Oosterpark.
