Restaurant Metro Amsterdam: one of Amsterdam North's favorite all-day spots
Inmiddels heeft Restaurant Sandberg z’n deuren geopend, de tweede zaak van een van de breinen achter het succesvolle Restaurant Metro Amsterdam. Wat de oprichters aan het Museumplein zo goed doen, doen ze al jaren even goed in Amsterdam Noord. Want daar zit Restaurant Metro, een fijne plek waar je de hele dag door terecht kunt.

Metro is al sinds de opening geliefd bij jong en oud. Het is een fijne plek waar je heengaat met familie, casual komt aanwaaien met vrienden, op date gaat of in je eentje een kop koffie aan de bar drinkt.
Dat komt niet alleen door het steengoede eten en drinken (er zit ook een bakkerij bij), maar ook door de gezellige sfeer en het bijzondere interieur. De blauw-groene stoeltjes zijn inmiddels onmiskenbaar Metro, net als de verdere no fuss-inrichting waar wel degelijk heel goed over is nagedacht. Bij Metro klopt alles, en ondanks de grootte van de ruimte voelt het knus.
Dat het zo’n succes is, was te verwachten met eigenaren die jarenlange ervaring in de horeca hebben. De vier oprichters kennen elkaar van Entrepot (Amsterdam Oost) en zo ontstond het idee om een zaak te starten waar zowel het ontbijt, lunch als diner een gastronomisch tintje heeft.

Menu en gerechten bij Restaurant Metro
Bekend werd Metro met hun ‘pizza fritta’ – gefrituurd pizzadeeg rijkelijk belegd met burrata en sardines. En dat is terecht, want die hebben ze inmiddels tot in de puntjes geperfectioneerd én die eet je (bijna) nergens anders.
Bij Metro draait het met name om de spannende snacks. Een paar grote hits: croquetas garnaal met parelgort en citroenmayonaise, brioche met champignon en tuinkers en dolma op spies van de BBQ, gevuld met basmati, druiven, kastanje, vinaigrette verjus en walnoot. Allemaal even bijzonder en goed.
Qua diner is de kaart beknopt en wisselend, maar dat doet niet af aan de kwaliteit. Sterker nog, doordat de kaart niet al te veel keuze heeft, is de kwaliteit juist altijd goed. Je eet er drie gangen voor €38,50 en kunt kiezen uit vlees, vis of vegetarisch. À la carte is ook een optie. Een van de favorieten onder vaste Metro-gangers is de geroosterde boerenkool met Zeeuwse gestoomde oester en schorseneer, net als de côte de boeuf met pepersaus en garnituur.
Liever naar Metro in de ochtend? Vanaf 10.00 uur rollen er de lekkerste zoete baksels vers uit eigen oven. Denk aan chocolate chip cookies, miso koekjes en een huisgemaakte donut, maar ook de kaneelknoop is een om niet over te slaan. Hartige trek? Ga dan voor de brioche bun met garnalenkroket en parelgort met citroenmayonaise of de zuurdesemtosti.

Of je er nu heengaat voor een lekkere kop koffie met ontbijt, een glas natuurwijn aan de bar, om de snackkaart uit te spelen of voor een driegangendiner met je familie: Metro stelt nooit teleur.

First of all: thank you for being here to close out 2025 <3.
2025, you were everything I hoped you would be and more. So many new memories.
I don't yet know what 2026 will bring, but last year was one for the books. Highlights included trips to China, Mexico City, Egypt, and exploring the English countryside.
Entrepreneurs probably recognize that 2025 was not an easy year.
When I started Your Little Black Book, I had one dream: not to work to stay somewhere for free in exchange for content and the pressure of a "picture perfect" experience. But to use my revenue models to book and experience those special places myself, as a guest instead of an influencer, and to give you honest tips.
After almost 15 years of entrepreneurship, I'm so happy with the balance between editorial and commercial work and that I can also say no to things that don't feel right.
At the same time, it's still special that destinations, airlines, and hotels hire me to create a customized Little Black Book for them. I have complete freedom with these campaigns, and I believe in the value of these content-based tips that truly suit your taste. And they come from me personally, not from a machine.

This will always be my dream job, the one I created almost 15 years ago. I still do as much as possible myself. That's energizing—from both successes and failures.
