Restaurant Kwie Kwie Amsterdam is the Surinamese pop-up from the owners of Barracuda Bar and Restaurant. Think: the same cozy vibe, but with a Surinamese twist.
Restaurant Kwie Kwie was named after a tropical fish from Suriname. And you've probably guessed it: at this pop-up restaurant, which will remain open until at least May, you'll be enjoying Surinamese food.
Kwie Kwie is located in the same area as Barracuda Restaurant on Aambeeldstraat and is owned by the same people. In fact, Kwie Kwie has a temporary home in the former Barracuda Bar. For this pop-up, they collaborated with London Loy, Maus Meeuwig, Noni Kooiman, and Joey Baal. The atmosphere is relaxed, cozy, and informal, and the interior is pleasantly colorful—as you'd expect from their other establishments.

Kwie Kwie's menu showcases the best of Surinamese cuisine: think classic roti, phulauri with tomato tagine, bakabana with peanut sambal, saoto soup, and petjel. The drinks menu is perfectly matched, as in addition to fine wines, they serve slush puppies and a tamarind Negroni – a must-try for cocktail lovers.
Looking for a low-key night out? Then Restaurant Kwie Kwie Amsterdam is the place to be. Order the entire menu for the table and savor the most delicious and unique flavors of Suriname.
