Restaurant JA Amsterdam: fine dining hotspot in De Pijp

One of the restaurants we had planned for date night when the lockdown hit is Amsterdam's Restaurant JA in the always lively Pijp . It looks so cozy inside that I'm almost starting to look forward to the months when it gets dark early again and you can enjoy a truly intimate candlelit dinner. But I'm getting off track! Restaurant JA Amsterdam is located in the building at Tweede Jan Steenstraat 3, where Le Restaurant was situated for a very long time, followed briefly by Restaurant Zaagmolen. I've been following Chef Julius Busscher for quite a while. He was part of the team when Jacobsz opened, for instance. That's also where he met his girlfriend, and together they now have their own restaurant. Sounds like a dream, doesn't it? With Julius in the kitchen and Amy as the hostess in the front of the house. They do everything just the two of them, without staff. And that makes it just that little bit more special.

Menu X Restaurant JA Amsterdam

Anyone who scrolls through Restaurant JA's Instagram page will understand that this is the perfect place for a culinary evening. A changing three-course menu is served daily for €33. Be sure to ask for advice on pairing wines. Or, for those who prefer a beer, there are matching specialty beers from brands like Two Chefs Brewing. Start the evening with oysters and finish the meal with a cheese board. Just make it a five-course meal, right? After all, you have the whole evening to enjoy the delicious food and good company. The menu changes monthly, and Restaurant JA is all about seasonal produce and craftsmanship. Everything is made in-house, even the JA cello. You understand: I'm going to plan that postponed date night very soon! And did I mention that they also offer a Matinée on Saturdays and Sundays between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM? Dinner is served on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 PM. They don't work shifts.
