Already a favourite: Restaurant C in Amsterdam
Another hotspot to put on your list of favourites: restaurant C! The new restaurant of chef Michiel van der Eerde – known by Baut and Baut Zuid. At C everything is about degrees Celsius. A new and really cool concept. Here it’s not only about the product, but mainly about the technique! Taste small dishes (perfect to share!) which are prepared on different temperatures and be surprised!
Besides that I’m a big fan of the interior of restaurant C. With a large open kitchen in the middle. There is a very pleasant vibe with trendy and classic influences. Extra nice: you can find several kinds of places to sit. From a silklike round couch to sit with friends, to wooden tables and spots at the bar around the open kitchen.
Menu X Restaurant C Amsterdam
Have you ever seen a menu where the meals are classified by temperature? At restaurant C they make a difference between 0 – 20 degrees dishes (raw, cold), 40 – 80 degrees dishes (low temperatures), 100 degrees dishes (steam, cooked) and 200 degrees dishes (grill, plancha, tempura). And obviously I tried them all!
We started with the mackerel ceviche, avocado, tomato and herb granite. Followed by salmon teriyaki, wakame, spring onions and enoki. So amazingly tasty! After this I tried the streaky hoisin with curry, bok choi and peanut, the lobster with gnocchi, parmesan and basil and de steak BBQ with polenta, asparagus and gremolata. My stomach was so full afterwards, but as a foodie I obviously couldn’t resist to eat it all.
My favourite? The lobster! So soft and full of flavour! The biggest surprise? The salmon teriyaki. It looks like sashimi but because of the flavour and the structure you can see and taste how its prepared on a higher temperature. Worth a try!
Extra nice: if you would like to try everything, you can order the 360 degrees menu which contains 4, 5 or 6-courses! Oh and I almost forgot about the dessert in the category of -20 to 0 degrees! With chocolate, coffee, macadamia and basil or banana, coconut and toffee. So better save some room!
