Do you already know this new app that helps against food wastage?
I’m sure we’ve all felt ashamed from seeing a hotel or restaurant throwing out a half, untouched buffet into the garbage. In order to make sure that this sort of food wastage doesn’t happen anymore, a new app has been developed in the past few months: ResQ. ResQ stands for ‘Rescuing food from becoming waste’. It’s an online platform and an app that Amsterdam hospitality can use so they don’t waste food. Did you know that every year around 51 million kilo of food is thrown out in the Dutch hospitality? ResQ Club is going to fight this and here at Your Little Black Book we’re going to loudly cheer them on.
How exactly does the app work?
The concept is actually quite simple… and that leaves us to think to ourselves: why hasn’t this been thought of earlier?! You can download the app here for free for iOS, Android, and Webapp and every day you get offers from: restaurants, cafés, hotels, caterers, juice bars and bakeries, and have the chance to order meals for 40 – 70% off.

You can set whether you have preferences for glutenfree, milkfree, vegetarian, or vegan and then the offers are filter based on those preferences! On the basis of your dietary needs you will get a notification everyday with the offers. You can change the notification settings as well. You can make your order directly and pay though the app, and then go to pick up your food at the restaurant. Also nice: at some of the restaurants you can also eat your meal there straight away. Through ResQ you can also request a surprise menu from certain restaurants. The chef will put together a menu for you based on the leftover products :)

A concept like ResQ has to, of course, support the participants. Because yes, even though you can get a meal with a great discount, it has to be a spot where you enjoy eating.
