Adhisthana Hotel: I always love discovering a great design hotel in a city that's also very affordable. At the Adhisthana Hotel, you'll immediately feel at home. You can relax in the courtyard near the lobby, but it's even better to unwind by the pool. The entire hotel is decorated with locally crafted items. Next time I'm in Yogyakarta, I'll definitely stay here for a few nights!

Be sure to order the eggplant dish.

They serve a wide selection of South Korean beers! Beer isn't served everywhere on Java, so if you're looking for an evening of drinks, this spot is a must-visit.

Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil: Need a break from authentic Indonesian food? Then Mediterranea is the place to be. It's one of Yogyakarta's most popular restaurants and a favorite among expats living in the city. The interior is reminiscent of Italy and Greece. If rain isn't forecast, request a table in the courtyard! This Yogyakarta restaurant also has a small shop selling organic products and delicious bread.
