Starting June 6th, De Vrouw met de Baard (The Bearded Woman) will open its own pop-up restaurant in the garden of De Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam-Noord. And believe me: this is exactly the kind of hidden gem you spontaneously want to visit with friends, your partner, or just solo. Anyone who's ever dined at their old restaurant knows what I mean!

Summer restaurant in the secret garden of De Tolhuistuin

This summer, the garden of De Tolhuistuin is the setting for the summer restaurant of De Vrouw met de Baard (The Bearded Woman). Think: dining surrounded by greenery, under the open sky, with funky DJ beats, classical musicians at unexpected moments, and a picnic vibe that will instantly lift your spirits. And what's even better: no reservations are required. Everyone is welcome under the Amsterdam-Noord sky. Raining? No worries, you can join us in the city's largest garden house.

What's on the menu at the garden house?

The menu is exactly what you'd expect from De Vrouw met de Baard: unique, packed with flavor, and with the taste of the Moluccas. You can enjoy lunch dishes starting at noon, such as:

• Bali chicken sandwiches or the vegan version with tempeh and eggplant
• The iconic peanut gado-gado manga wrap – back on the menu, with crunch, crisps and Chef Lemette's addictive peanut sauce
• Baos with toppings such as:
  • Typhoid hot sambal (for those who dare)
  • Sambal no.01 (for the die-hard foodie)
  • Mom's sauce (for those who like it sweet)

But the dish that everyone will be talking about is undoubtedly the Ayam Geprek – a crispy, smashed chicken that makes any karaage or KFC pale in comparison.

From 17.00 p.m., the open field kitchen will be live, and you can enjoy specials from The Bearded Woman herself and guest chefs such as Per de Man, The Jollof Club, Lelani Lewis, and Joris Vermeer of Hokkai Kitchen & Sake.

Everything is prepared live, surrounded by greenery. Expect fire, flavor, and a generous dose of conviviality.

This pop-up is open from June 6 to September 28, 2025, and only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
