Bucket list tip: visit the Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary in Thailand

For my book Feed Your Wanderlust, I interviewed dozens of colleagues from the travel industry about their bucket list tips. Jolanda writes and photographs for Bijzonder Plekje, one of the websites you definitely want to know if you are looking for a unique place to stay in Europe. Her trip to Thailand has stayed with her to this day because of the special experience she had with elephants.

In 2013, I went to Asia for the first time with my boyfriend (now husband!). We have fantastic memories of the Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary in Thailand. With our guide, Bunloed, we spent a night in a treehouse. Wild elephants came to eat sugarcane right below us when it got dark. The next morning, we had breakfast with monks and villagers. Bunloed's homestay in northeast Thailand is also definitely worth staying at. Give him our regards if you go!
