I'm so glad Pho 91 opened in Amsterdam's bustling Albert Cuyp Market. Since I first ate Vietnamese food a few years ago at Lêlê in Copenhagen I'm a huge fan of this cuisine. Everything is so wonderfully fresh, with lots of vegetables and delicious flavors. Pho 91 is a cozy Vietnamese cafe with authentic food.
The interior is also super cute. With quirky drawings on the walls, Vietnamese items, and vintage furniture. It's always super busy, which makes it very cozy. If the weather's nice, you can also sit outside. Hopefully, the street sweepers have already been there, because it can get quite messy after the Albert Cuyp Market is open. Although, I have to say, it does add a nice, edgy touch. Almost like being in Chinatown!
If you have a market right outside your door from Monday to Saturday, you can, of course, pick up fresh produce for your menu. And that's exactly what they do at Pho! I think it's the perfect place to grab a quick, affordable bite to eat with a friend.
If you've never had Vietnamese food, Pho 91 is a great spot to experience authentic Vietnamese cuisine. From delicious salads to summery spring rolls and soups, the appetizers are perfect for sharing. Always a good idea, as this way you can sample even more flavors!
The fresh spring rolls with vegetables and a peanut sauce dip are delicious. So are the crispy chicken wings. For my main course, I had a salad with shrimp and pork. A unique combination and very tasty. Be sure to try one of the phos, a Vietnamese noodle soup with lots of vegetables and possibly meat.
I'm happy with the opening of this new Vietnamese restaurant in Amsterdam!
