Pepito, Amsterdam West: the new hotspot for tapas and Spanish classics.

For good wine, Spanish tapas (especially those from Ibiza), and coziness, you’re in the right place at the brand-new Pepito Amsterdam. We dare say that Amsterdam-West has gained a new hotspot for drinks and dinner.

Pepito Amsterdam

On the Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat in Amsterdam West, a new and very welcome establishment recently emerged: Pepito Amsterdam. As it turned out, it was a feast for the eyes and taste buds. The restaurant is the latest addition from two owners who are no strangers to the hospitality world: former actor Manuel Broekman and magnate Tijn Verstappen. Verstappen is at the helm of establishments including Van ‘t Spit, La Parole (together with Broekman), Gertrude, and Linguini. The interior of Pepito is precisely what you’d expect from a tapas bar, but just a little bit better. With the spots described above, one can anticipate that a new concept is well thought out yet simultaneously no-nonsense and simply excellent.

Menu Pepito

The menu of Pepito is as you would expect from a Spaniard: full of delightful tapas and always-good classics from the country. Pan con tomate, an irresistible aioli (make sure the whole table indulges in this), calamari, grilled sardines, and chicken thigh with garlic are just a few options from the extensive menu. In addition to an elaborate selection of seafood dishes – something Spain excels in – both vegetarians and meat enthusiasts are catered to. We recommend saving some room for desserts: the classic Basque cheesecake might sit heavy, but every calorie is worth it. If you want to top off your dinner with a pick-me-up, the Spanish Coffee is a good choice: a robust cup with whipped cream and Licor 43.

A glance at the drink menu reveals immediately just as much love and research have been poured into it. The owners have scoured many tapas bars in Spain for inspiration (including Madrid and Barcelona) and discovered “hierbas,” a Spanish herbal liqueur popular especially in Ibiza. And in true hospitable Spanish fashion, all guests are treated to a complimentary house drink.
