Pelusa Amsterdam is a no-nonsense gastropub in Amsterdam Noord. This relatively new spot is popular with both residents of Noord and curious visitors from other neighborhoods. Day trippers, especially beer lovers, are also drawn to this place.

Atmosphere and interior at Pelusa Amsterdam
Pelusa Amsterdam's motto? "Just one more!" And that fits them perfectly. Because with such a wide selection of craft beers, the temptation to have just one more is strong. Whether you were planning to or not. It's a place where you can enjoy drinks together just as much as you enjoy a good meal. No frills or fuss. It's simply good.
The interior perfectly reflects the concept behind this place: no frills. Bar stools, chairs, and tables that could have come straight out of an old traditional pub, and a generally industrial look. And it works surprisingly well.

Menu and dishes at Pelusa
Pelusa Amsterdam's menu is refined and uncomplicated. There are always three main courses to share (for two people or more). A large grill does the cooking. Beef rump with chimichurri is a perfect accompaniment, as is red mullet with Dutch shrimp sauce and pumpkin with duxelles.
For snacks, the stuffed eggs with eel cream are a must (you won't believe your eyes!), and the Keppler bread is exactly what you'd hope for. Side dishes are kept simple: just salad and potatoes. Just like you're probably used to at home, only a little bit better.
The Pelusa cheesecake is one for the books. With its unusual combination of beetroot and other classic ingredients, you'll definitely want to save some room for it.
And then, of course, the drinks selection: it's enormous. The beer menu, in particular, deserves an award. They're one of the few places in Amsterdam that serves "wild beer," a uniquely fermented beer using bacteria and natural yeasts in the air. Not a beer lover? No problem. The selection of ciders and natural wines is just as good.

Heading out of town? 🍂 These are my favorite walking and drinking spots in the Netherlands.
To be honest... I don't see myself living outside the city anytime soon, but on weekends I do enjoy getting out into nature. That's why I've created a YLBB shortlist of the most beautiful hiking areas, complete with a great spot for drinks nearby.
