As a little girl, I always looked forward to summer vacation. Plenty of time, sunny weather, and… Eating paella! It still makes me so happy at Spanish holiday destinations and food markets. It's such a cozy meal! A big pan on the table, a nice bottle of wine, and you can just tuck in. I couldn't cook paella myself yet, so my friends had to make do with an empty table and a bottle of wine ;-)
Paella is a typical Valencian dish. So when I was in Valencia Naturally, I went looking for a restaurant where I could eat traditional paella! At Escuela de Arroces y Paella Valencia, I not only ate paella, but chef Jaime Cros even taught me how to make it!
I usually eat this rice dish with seafood. In Valencia, however, they serve paella with local ingredients: chicken, rabbit, snails, and various vegetables. Chef Jaime showed me step by step how to make the most delicious paella. First, you go to the market to buy the ingredients. And after the workshop, you can, of course, eat the paella yourself. I can't reveal the recipe, but if you're like me and love paella, Valencia is the place to be!
