What is padel?
You probably have plenty of friends who regularly send selfies from a bright blue court. They're already completely hooked on padel, but maybe you aren't. Thinking about starting anyway? Be prepared: it's addictive. But let's start at the beginning: these are the basics you need to know about padel.
Padel is a mix of tennis and squash, played on a smaller court surrounded by glass and fencing. It's usually played two-on-two, with a fixed serve and longer rallies because the ball can bounce off the wall. It sounds like there are no rules, and sometimes it seems that way to outsiders ;-). The pace is fast, and the technique is accessible – even for those who have never held a tennis racket. And that's perhaps what makes it so much fun.
Although padel only really became popular in the Netherlands in recent years, it has been the sport everyone plays in Spain for decades. Padel was invented in Mexico in 1969, but it later became a major sport in Spain.
How do you book a padel court in Amsterdam?
Fortunately, booking a padel court in Amsterdam is very easy. Most clubs are affiliated with apps like Playtomic, KNLTB Meet & Play, or Padel Mates. Through these apps, you can reserve a court, choose a time slot, and even find other players if you don't have a regular padel club yet. Some clubs also offer drop-in sessions, clinics, or lessons for beginners.

At Padel Next, they take the sport seriously, without losing sight of the social aspect. Besides clinics, physiotherapists, and competitions, they also offer fun themed tournaments, such as a matching event during Valentine's Day.

B. Amsterdam
You might know B. Amsterdam as an event venue or business premises, but did you know it now also boasts 12 padel courts? It's a great place to visit on the weekend or for a sporty team outing. The building also offers a large number of meeting rooms, a Stach, and a rooftop bar.

It doesn't get more iconic than the Frans Otten Stadium. This former sports hall is a household name among Amsterdammers. Besides tennis and squash courts, it now also boasts several padel courts.

Whether you play padel or not, you've probably heard this name before. The Padellers is very popular and has indoor courts in two locations in the capital and throughout the country.

Peakz Padel (Amsterdam South) is one of the most well-known padel clubs in the Netherlands, with 20 clubs and 160 courts throughout the country. In Amsterdam, they offer several courts, professional training, and even a cozy café for the third half (and let's face it, that's kind of what it's all about).

Plaza Padel
This place isn't just in Amsterdam, but throughout the country. Plaza Padel is a state-of-the-art club with nine (!) indoor courts, a gym, and even two meeting rooms. Handy if you need to attend a call between padel sessions. If you work for a sports team, you'll want to spend a day here together. Plaza Padel also offers lessons for children.

First of all: thank you for being here to close out 2025 <3.
2025, you were everything I hoped you would be and more. So many new memories.
I don't yet know what 2026 will bring, but last year was one for the books. Highlights included trips to China, Mexico City, Egypt, and exploring the English countryside.
Entrepreneurs probably recognize that 2025 was not an easy year.
When I started Your Little Black Book, I had one dream: not to work to stay somewhere for free in exchange for content and the pressure of a "picture perfect" experience. But to use my revenue models to book and experience those special places myself, as a guest instead of an influencer, and to give you honest tips.
After almost 15 years of entrepreneurship, I'm so happy with the balance between editorial and commercial work and that I can also say no to things that don't feel right.
At the same time, it's still special that destinations, airlines, and hotels hire me to create a customized Little Black Book for them. I have complete freedom with these campaigns, and I believe in the value of these content-based tips that truly suit your taste. And they come from me personally, not from a machine.

This will always be my dream job, the one I created almost 15 years ago. I still do as much as possible myself. That's energizing—from both successes and failures.
