Splish, splash, splatter, having fun in the water! This overview of my favorite paddling pools in Amsterdam is a must for all parents in Amsterdam this summer. Happy kids mean happy parents. I also love these kiddie pools, toddler pools, or paddling pools for meeting up with friends who have kids. Load up the wagon, bring ‘park chairs‘ so you don’t get a sore bottom after an hour, a picnic basket full of goodies, an extra set of swimwear (I’m a big fan of UV suits), some water toys, a poncho towel, and reusable swim diapers for the kids and go. To be honest, sometimes we do a quick trip to the paddling pool in Oosterpark. Wrapped in a Hammam towel, we bike back home. Sometimes it’s a hassle to bring everything, so for all parents, here’s the good intention: JUST GO! Once you’re settled, it’s wonderful, and I bet the little one will have a great time right away.
PUBLIC PADDLING POOLS IN AMSTERDAM
Good to know that the public paddling pools in Amsterdam are filled when the temperature is above 20 degrees, cleaned daily, and open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Due to the Coronavirus, more chlorine is being used in the paddling pools this year, so the natural pool in Westerpark will not be in use this summer. But no worries, there are still plenty of options! Discover a different paddling pool in Amsterdam every week or every day of the vacation this summer. With these 9 tips, you’ll have plenty of inspiration!

| TIP: Sissy-Boy sells really nice Hammam towels, which are highly recommended for traveling. They are lighter in your suitcase than a beach towel but perfect for the beach or as a picnic blanket!
6 X TODDLER AND PADDLING POOLS IN AMSTERDAM ESPECIALLY FOR THE LITTLE ONES
Pierenbadje Noorderpark: Noorderpark is a great park for kids. One of the nicest kid-friendly restaurants in the city with a sandbox, Pompet, is in the park. There is also a beautiful natural playground and a paddling pool. The paddling pool in Noorderpark is on the Adelaarsweg side.
Pierenbadje Beatrixpark: You’ll find the paddling pool in Beatrixpark at Boerenweteringpad. Right behind the RAI, in a park loved by locals. There is a partial canopy where you can sit in the shade.
Pierenbadje Bellamyplein: With the arrival of De Foodhallen, Bellamyplein has been beautifully renovated. The paddling pool is back in use, and since it’s not in a green park, it has a wonderful urban feel. First water fun, then grab something tasty at De Foodhallen?
Pierenbadje Vondelpark: Perhaps one of the most famous paddling pools in Amsterdam is in Vondelpark. Honestly, it remains fun but also very busy! If you want to meet friends, its central location in Amsterdam is super convenient.
Pierenbadje Amsterdamse Bos: I suspect we’ll be at Amsterdamse Bos more often this summer now that we have electric bikes. Visiting the Goat Farm is always fun, but a tropical hot summer day isn’t complete without some water splashing. Next to the paddling pool in Amsterdamse Bos is a playground.
Pierenbadje Oosterpark: Okay, okay, I’m a bit biased because this is one of my favorite paddling pools in Amsterdam as I live nearby. Even in summer, it’s a lovely place to cool off, picking up the little one early and letting them play before dinner. This paddling pool also has toilets, so everything is well-organized in summer. You’ll find the paddling pool in Oosterpark at the back of the Tropenmuseum (which also has a fun kids program).

AND 3 MORE TIPS FOR KIDS’ WATER FUN IN AMSTERDAM
Nemo: Did you know there’s also a water feature on the roof of NEMO? The roof is free to access from the street side via the stairs or the lift inside the museum. You can eat and drink on the roof while the kids play with a view of the city.
Haarlemmerplein: It almost feels like New York when the neighborhood kids play in the sprinklers at Haarlemmerplein. It never gets boring for the little ones!
Artisplein: At the exit of Artis, when you walk straight onto the terrace of De Plantage, you can’t miss the fountain. While the parents enjoy a drink and a snack on the terrace, the kids can burn off some energy with water fun. In warm weather, put Teva’s or Salt Water Sandals on your kids, as it’s unlikely you’ll pass the fountain without playing!
