Omakase Amsterdam: the new omakase hotspot right in the heart of De Pijp

4 July 2025

Amsterdam has a number of great omakase restaurants, but Omakase Amsterdam is a new gemYou can now enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine through traditional omakase menus in the heart of De Pijp (on Ferdinand Bolstraat).

Atmosphere and interior at Omakase Amsterdam

Step inside Omakase Amsterdam (slightly hidden behind the Heineken Brewery) and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported straight to Japan. The light wood interior, intimate tables, and natural light create an un-Amsterdam-like vibe. Add to that the chefs enthusiastically explaining every detail of what’s on your plate, and you’ve got the recipe for a very successful concept.

Menu and dishes at Omakase

As the name suggests, you’ll enjoy a full omakase menu at Omakase Amsterdam. The word omakase means “I’ll leave it up to you“, and that’s precisely what you’ll do here: let go of control and surrender to the creativity and techniques of the chefs.

At Omakase Amsterdam, that’s no punishment! They serve a 14-course omakase menu (!) from Wednesday to Saturday for €59. You’ll be treated to various dishes, types of fish and sushi, all prepared fresh right before your eyes by the chefs. And just like at Ken Sushi and many other omakase restaurants, the chef enthusiastically explains every dish served.

The favourites within Team YourLBB vary, but we all agree that the halibut nigiri is a celebration of flavours. Of course, the otoro also deserves a spot among the highlights—after all, is there a more delicious cut of tuna? We doubt it, and at Omakase, they show just how versatile it can be. In short: this is something you must experience for yourself.
