Whether you're a whisky lover or just craving something special at the bar: from November 17th to 23rd, Amsterdam will be celebrating Woodford Old Fashioned Week 2025. This week revolves around one of the most iconic cocktails ever: the Old Fashioned. More than forty bars in the Netherlands will showcase the innovative potential of this classic. And of course, you can also sample the best twists on the Old Fashioned in Amsterdam.

The program of Old Fashioned Week 2025
During Woodford Old Fashioned Week 2025 in Amsterdam, you'll discover how bartenders and chefs from around the world are putting their own spin on this whisky classic. From flavors reminiscent of Jakarta's rice paddies to inspiration from Italian herbs or The Hague hops: every sip is a little journey in itself.
What makes this week extra special? Three top chefs—Sidney Schutte (Spectrum**), Floris van Straalen (Van Oost), and Dirk Mooren (Verlan, Mata Hari)—created a culinary twist on the classic Old Fashioned, inspired by their signature dishes. Together with Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey, they demonstrate that a single cocktail can tell countless stories.
Their exclusive Chef's Old Fashioneds are only available during Old Fashioned Week at the above-mentioned bars.
During Old Fashioned Week, more than forty bars in the Netherlands participate — and Amsterdam is home to some of the most unique spots.
At Vesper Bar, Jules Bayuni brings his Old Fashioned to life with memories of his family in Jakarta, with aromas of toasted rice, pandan, and cloves.
The bartenders at Tales & Spirits created Rooted in Time, an Old Fashioned inspired by the taste of licorice and liquorice.
The Italian bartenders at The Tailor pay tribute to their homeland with Sicilian Pride, featuring spicy notes and rosemary.
Together with chef Floris van Straalen (Van Oost), Nick Vrielink from Fitz's Bar developed a culinary Chef's Old Fashioned.
At The Vault Bar in Amsterdam, Sidney Schutte (Spectrum) and Ignazio Di Gangi created an Old Fashioned inspired by Schutte's signature duck dish.
Lilliyin Enderlé was inspired by the Hague Hopjes. Her Old Fashioned combines butter-washed bourbon with hopjes syrup and walnut bitters.
Chef Dirk Mooren (Verlan, Mata Hari) worked with Tim Lefevre (Door74) on his own culinary interpretation of the Old Fashioned.
Throughout November, The Hoxton Herengracht is serving three creative twists on the Old Fashioned, plus a Woodford Reserve cocktail from Barcelona's SIPS Drinkery House (No. 1 World's 50 Best Bars 2023).
On November 27th, the SIPS team will take over Lotti's bar for one evening only during an exclusive guest shift—a unique opportunity to experience the world's number one bar in Amsterdam.
On November 20th, the team from Bar Cham in Seoul (No. 52 World's 50 Best Bars) will come to Amsterdam for a guest shift at Sins of Sal. A unique collaboration that brings together flavors and stories from different continents in a single glass.
Whether you're a fan of classic cocktails or eager to try something new, Woodford Old Fashioned Week 2025 is the perfect opportunity to discover different styles. From classic and elegant to adventurous and experimental—each bar has its own story to tell. And honestly? There's nothing better than an Old Fashioned in good company, somewhere at a bar in Amsterdam.
I would say: plan your own cocktail route along the best Old Fashioneds in Amsterdam.
Cheers!
