It's striking that classics and nostalgic dishes are becoming increasingly popular. Back to basics, but good ones. French cuisine (one of the most classic in the world) is also gaining ground, especially the more rustic dishes. So, are you looking for the tastiest oeuf mayo in Amsterdam? You'll find it at one of the restaurants below.

14 X Here you can eat the tastiest oeuf mayo in Amsterdam

Bistro Toast

At the new Bistro Toost in Amstelveen, you'll feel like you're in a classic bistro. This establishment is co-owned by the two-Michelin-star restaurant Aan de Poel, which is directly across the street. However, this place is much more accessible than its neighbor. While Van de Poel is all about fine dining, Bistro Toost is a bit more relaxed. And that's precisely the charm the owners were looking for: a relaxed atmosphere in a bistro setting. The menu features dishes from various countries, from French oeuf mayonnaise with anchovies and crispy capers and lobster soup to sashimi.

R. de Rosa

No classic oeuf mayo, but a "ei de Rosa" is on the menu at this cozy wine bar in the Jordaan. This house signature dish is served with tarragon mayonnaise and little gem cheese. With a matching glass of wine, of course.

Café Restaurant Amsterdam

Few places are as well-known to both young and old as Café Restaurant Amsterdam. This spot near Westerpark not only boasts an iconic location but also an equally fantastic menu. "Just act normal, that's crazy enough," is the motto. Here you'll find classics from all corners of the globe – from Italy to France and the Netherlands – but spring rolls are also on the menu. And of course, eggs mayonnaise are a must.

Joris Bijdendijk (known for RIJKS* and Wils*) also owns the unique Wils Bakery Café on Stadionplein. Wils Bakery Café is a combination bakery and bistro, making it the gourmet sister of Michelin-starred restaurant Wils, located on the third floor of the building. Wils Bakery Café offers the best of both worlds, as you can walk in without a reservation for classic lunch and bread dishes, as well as eggs and mayonnaise. In the summer, Wils Bakery Café also has a lovely terrace where you can linger for hours.

Libertine Café and Libertine Café Des Prés

After the Libertine Café on Noordermarkt, the owners have opened a second establishment: Libertine Café Des Prés. This small bistro on Gerard Douplein exudes the same French charm as its larger counterpart in the city center. A classic French interior, a welcoming terrace, and plenty of nostalgic details give the place a relaxed atmosphere. You can also visit any time of day, even for your portion of oeufs mayonnaise.

Bouchon du Centre

Within walking distance of Carré, you'll find a little slice of France, inspired by the 19th-century "bouchon Lyonnais." These were small kitchens where women, who had previously cooked for the bourgeoisie, began serving simple meals as a new source of income. Bouchon du Centre revives that history with classic yet simple French dishes. As you might expect, oeufs mayo is a constant on the menu.

Café Cenc

The former Bambino building now houses Café Cenc Amsterdam, a fine restaurant from the owners of Bar Parry and Balthazar's Kitchen. The menu features tasty snacks and small dishes, such as Noorderkaas with piccalilli and taramasalata with pickled cucumber, as well as classic oeufs mayonnaise. For main courses, there's a concise but good selection.

Fancy a break from the city? 🍂 These are my favourite walking & drinks spots in the Netherlands. To be honest... I don't see myself living outside the city anytime soon, but on weekends I love getting out into nature. That's why I've created a YLBB shortlist of the most beautiful walking areas, complete with a great drinks spot nearby. My perfect Sunday? First a walk, then relaxing somewhere with a treat or a hot chocolate (or, of course, a glass of wine and bitterballen!). 📍From Lage Vuursche to the Waterleidingduinen and the Amsterdamse Bos, I share my favourites in this video. But... there are of course many more lovely places in the Netherlands where you can enjoy a drink after a walk. Which tip do you think is a must-see? 👇 Save this post to get out into nature this season or forward it to your walking date. 🍁 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck #yourlittleblackbook #hikinginthenetherlands #drinksspot #discoveringthenetherlands #natureinthenetherlands #autumnroutes #hikingtips #dutchautumn #walks #naturewalk #weekendtips #netherlandsholiday #drinks #outdoorlife #amsterdamweekend #thingstodonetherlands #yourlbb
Forget the classic omakase experience in Amsterdam, this is something else. Hidden inside burger spot @paindemie_amsterdam and inspired by the Tokyo subway, you'll find @moyo_amsterdam. A new hotspot redefining the omakase concept. Chef @guillaumedebeer is behind this next-level concept, and it shows in every creative detail. But here O-toro and Wagyu take the stage 🥩. It's intimate, creative, and seriously one of the most exciting new openings in Amsterdam right now. Save this for your next special dinner night 🔥 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck #amsterdam #amsterdamcity #amsterdamfoodguide #amsterdamfood #amsterdamtravel
The most beautiful l𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘀 for your 𝗡𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 this season The days are getting shorter, the evenings longer… And honestly? I secretly think that’s one of the nicest things about this season. Because the transition from autumn to winter means: light festivals! ✨ All over the Netherlands, cities, parks and castles light up with light art, projections and installations that you’ll love to see them all. What once started with the Amsterdam Light Festival has grown into one of the most beautiful winter traditions in the country, if you ask me! Most light festivals also offer cozy hot chocolate and food stalls for something tasty to go. Perfect for a winter evening with your loved one, family, or friends. Can you picture yourself strolling past artworks that transform streets, parks, and canals into a fairytale, with a hot chocolate or mulled wine in hand? 📍From North Holland to Gelderland, I'm sharing all the tips in a comprehensive article on Your Little Black Book, featuring the best light festivals in almost every province in the Netherlands. Trust me: this is such a special outing to brighten up the dark days. P.S. I'll also have exciting news about the @lefoodwalk at the @amsterdamlightfestival on Your Little Black Book soon! Looking for the hottest new spot for a date night in Amsterdam City Center? Meet @littlebonfire.ams 🔥 With its cozy vibe it's the kind of place that feels like an extension of your living room: but with much better food and wine. On the ever changing menu you'll find classics to share: from pan con tomate with anchovies, stracciatella with zucchini and peas, to crispy eggplant, vitello and sea bass with clams. Don't skip dessert: the Basque cheesecake is already my favorite. This spot is perfect for a date night at the bar or dinner with the girls. I think Little Bonfire Amsterdam is a keeper in the city center! 📍Little Bonfire Amsterdam City Center Who are you taking here first? 🖤 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck #LittleBonfireAmsterdam #AmsterdamRestaurants #DateNightAmsterdam #AmsterdamCityCentre #AmsterdamHotspots #Amsterdamfoodie #Amsterdamtravel #YourLittleBlackBook
