It's been on my mind for months. Road trip, road trip, ROAD TRIP. With over 100 blogs in our New York City Guide It's time to conquer the rest of North America. And as a true city girl, almost every city in North America is on my #bucketlist. Well, except for those really dusty states. But you get my drift...
I'm itching to start creating new city guides here. A new project from Your Little Black Book is going to be a road trip. Along the West Coast of the US of A (as I like to call the States). The kind of trip where after three weeks you can't stand the sight of another hamburger and long for a bowl of sushi from Wholefoods, which you eat in your Mustang convertible to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the American portions and all the fried food.
YES, the editors' wanderlust feeling always comes to the fore... Besides the cities along the West Coast, we also have several other cities on our shortlist. All bucket-list cities to visit in the coming years! Because let's be honest... after New York, wouldn't you want to see more of America?
>>> Los Angeles >>>
The last time I was in LA, I was still wearing size 26 Levi's 501s. Yep... a long time ago! Maybe you've done it too... taken a road trip down the West Coast with your parents. Awesome! And how cool to go back again. Because Los Angeles is hot! Staying at the ACE Hotel, hanging out on the beach in Santa Barbara, getting a tattoo at Dr. Woo, and drinking coffee at Verve Coffee Roasters.
How to get there: KLM flies to Los AngelesCheapest period: the Dutch winter. Tickets from: €848,-

>>> Austin >>>
If I said Texas, you'd probably have pulled a face five years ago. But with the enormous popularity of the SXSW festival in Austin, this city is more popular than ever. And I happen to know a thing or two about this city. I lived there for a while! Last year, I was there on vacation to visit my old college friends. Trust me… Austin has IT. Great bars everywhere with craft beer and craft cocktails. Delicious food and a very relaxed vibe. Stay at Hotel San José!
How to get there: cheap tickets to Austin I have never found… from € 848. Tip: fly up Dallas of Houston and take a mini road trip to Austin. Much cheaper!

>>> Miami >>>
Ten years ago, everyone was raving about Miami, then it was so-so for a few years, and now it's a resounding YES. Plastic fantastic, beaches, enormous clubs, and the Art Deco district. Stay at the new Thompson Hotel and dine at La Savina with a view of the Miami skyline. Miami… we can't wait to explore all of it!
How to get there: Keep an eye on the offers for cheap tickets Miami keep a close eye on it. You can fly here with KLM from just €676.

>>> Chicago >>>
Everyone who enters Chicago I've been and I'm enthusiastic about the food. If the food is good, I'm excited. Besides the fact that Chicago has some amazing architecture. And it's also on the water… something that, in my opinion, gives a city an edge. And this year marks the 25th anniversary of the launch of the HOUSE in Chicago, and the celebration is complete. I'm going to Chicago in October this year. Looking forward to it!
How to get there: preferably in summer, because it can be very cold in this city in winter. Tickets from €774Tip for frequent flyers with Flying Blue: This city is often included in Award Miles offers!
>>> Portland >>>
You either love it or hate it. And I think I'll praise it. When the ACE Hotel suddenly opened its doors in Portland, it was the start of a hipness revolution. Cool coffee shops, good restaurants, beautiful concept stores. Portland is on the map. Portland is also called the New York of the West. A city I'll definitely include on my West Coast road trip! I'm that curious now :-).
Here's how: try a weekend in Portland instead of a week in New York. Tickets with KLM from € 965.
And besides these 5 #bucketlist cities, I could finally go on... driving the Mustang through Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Diego. And then preferably stopping by New York on the way back. Simply because that city never gets old. And okay, then we'll include Boston and Philly right away. Happy travels! I'll dream on...
