Atmosphere and interior at Nikotin Restobar Amsterdam
A sunnyside terrace and the setting of the industrial yet always charming Gedempt Hamerkanaal: it’s a lovely spot at Nikotin in North Amsterdam. Where Hamer & Vork once stood, Nikotin Restobar settled in after a renovation run by the same owners as Nachbar (Amsterdam City Centre). At Nikotin, the vibe is relaxed; you’ll feel at home instantly. The comfort food bites and delicious drinks add to the experience.
Menu and dishes at Nikotin Restobar
In a classic resto-bar, equal attention is given to food and drinks; at Nikotin, that couldn’t be clearer. The dishes have a Korean, modern twist, and just browsing the snack menu is mouth-watering: the oysters with grilled ginger are a team YourLBB favourite, but the langoustine and shiso tempura were also a big hit—as was the milk bread with shiso butter (a golden combo, if you ask us).
Prefer not to share too much? Go for the kimchi burger as a main, available in a vegetarian version with aubergine or fried chicken. Still got room (or feeling generous enough to share)? Then don’t skip the shiitake bulgogi – you won’t regret it. Be sure to ask the staff about their house-made kimchis of the moment, as they love to experiment and surprise with those too.
You may also have noticed that hojicha is on the rise in Amsterdam. You can try a hojicha cheesecake at the new restaurant Silk for dessert, while at Nikotin, they serve a flan cake made with it. That distinctive nutty hojicha flavour makes it less sweet, but all the more delicious. In short, you’ll be sorted for the entire evening.
Nikotin is perfect for a terrace session or dinner with friends
On the terrace at Nikotin, you could easily while away the evening, especially with the tasty drinks they serve here. But a long, relaxed dinner with friends or family is just as much of a success here.
