Many of these new restaurants in Amsterdam also have a lovely terrace , so when it's sunny, you might enjoy sitting on the terrace at lunch or drinks spots. But it's also pleasant inside, as the interiors of these Amsterdam restaurants are almost all very Instagram-worthy. And what I particularly like about these new hotspots is that it often feels like they've been there for years. The Amsterdam restaurant scene is fortunate to have a number of new classics! Also nice: at many of these new restaurants, you'll find plenty of vegetarian options on the menu.

City café

The full name of this new restaurant, located where Bar Kantoor used to be, is indeed Stadscafé. Because that is what it is: a city café. They are open every day from 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM or later, serving breakfast, lunch, drinks, and dinner, and have a very nice, large terrace in the Westerpark.

Satkara

Right in the city center, on Reguliersdwars, this Indian-Nepalese fine dining restaurant opened. A significant addition to the neighborhood, we would say, and we can't wait to try the chicken momo, naan, and dimplings (and the cocktails).

Cork-screw

To everyone's dismay, Bouchon du Centre closed last summer. It was taken by an establishment run by acquaintances and neighbors: Tire-Bouchon, owned by the Verbunt family, the owners of Café Oosterling. As far as they are concerned, this is the least hip wine bar in town, featuring over five hundred wines and seasonal dishes for which ingredients are sourced from local entrepreneurs. They are open all day, seven days a week (!).

Xiang Amsterdam

Welcome to Hunan! The team behind FuLu Mandarin and Oriental City has opened a third restaurant: Xiang, where they focus on Hunanese cuisine. That means lots of fresh, dried, and pickled peppers (unlike the numbing Sichuan pepper they focus on at FuLu) and spicy and sour dishes.

Bar Francois

Bar Francois, a wine and manger, looks so cozy. The menu features delicious wine, of course, but also simple plates such as charcuterie, mackerel dip, gougères, blue cheese with cherry jam, a tournedos, and frittata. Perfect for a Friday afternoon.

Bistro de Fles

Guillaume de Beer initially had Bar Gui at this location, but transformed the atmospheric basement into Bistro de Fles. The concept: a monthly changing three- or four-course menu, snacks – from croissant with pan-fried duck liver, fig jam, and A5 Wagyu ham to canned fish – a large dish to share, and a European wine list.

Café Iep

In the old Mads in the Zeeheldenbuurt (where things are getting better and better: last year Rondo and Boon en de Koot also opened in the neighborhood , and Café Iep is situated right in between), a young couple has opened a new establishment: Café Iep, where we are, for example, very curious about the pecorino croquettes with tomato aioli.

Sushi Oodo

Reservations are open, and the place is almost ready too (September 12!): Sushi Oodo, the new omakase-style sushi restaurant on Utrechtsestraat. To gain inspiration, they dined at the best Japanese establishments in the world, the furniture comes from Japan, and the drinks menu is full of exclusive sakes.

The Jollof Club finally has a permanent home! After organizing pop-ups for a long time, the doors of this modern West African restaurant in Southeast have now *really* opened.

The Lemmeke

Amsterdam Oud-Zuid has gained a gem of a business. From the family of Wijmpje Beukers, Schotsheuvel and the Singing Swan Now there is 't Lemmeke. A gastropub like the ones you know from cities like London, complete with the best British vibes in the interior. In the restaurant area, you can sit very cozily for a leisurely meal (there is even a fireplace!), and downstairs you can have drinks in the 'pub'. When the weather is nice, the terrace is the place to enjoy beautiful summer evenings. We sampled almost the entire menu, and this new hotspot is perfect for a snacky dinner (the snack menu is *so* good, we’re going back just for that) or a dinner with a table full of dishes. Sharing is optional, but not required.

The beautifully renovated room, situated in the building that formerly housed Café de Parel, is cosy and warm on cold days and has a lovely terrace for warmer days. Chef Ciaran Patrick previously cooked at, among others, 4850 and Sebonsa (from his co-owner Justin Grooten), and has a very distinctive style. Think: delicate vegetable dishes on small plates, but also a whole quail to gnaw on and a canelé with caviar.

Café Publiek

This corner by the Dappermarkt is becoming hot. At Café Publiek, you can enjoy a great shot (various beers *and* gins!), grab some tasty snacks, from bitterballen and olives to duck rillettes and a merguez sandwich, order dishes from the barbecue, and then have a chocolate cookie with ice cream for dessert.

The Polder Bird

A new addition to Watergraafsmeer! Because it is no longer a polder there, as it once was. However, you can now find restaurant De Poldervogel there, a neighborhood restaurant serving refined comfort food: oysters, smoked trout on a waffle, leek à la Grecque, steak tartare, a chicken leg, or rigatoni alla vodka (we don't often see that on the menu, how nice!).

Rondo

Restaurant Rondo, by chefs Bloeme Burema and Gina Verheij, is already a favorite. You sit at the fun bright pink bar, a low table, or, weather permitting, on the cozy terrace, and the food feels like a family dinner plus. The oeuf sambal is already almost a classic. And yes, of course, they have a classic Rondo for dessert.

Can you call this a restaurant? Meh, at De Pimpelmees they prefer to call themselves a wine bar. So it's mainly about sipping (there are many delicious wines on the menu), perhaps with a well-stocked cheese board.

Bonburger has a new location! And it is really big, nestled among the other nice spots in North. The same delicious burgers, but with some additions: reservations, an open fire, cocktails, and a music bar.

Amsterdam Bouillon

The hype: bouillons. And the perhaps even bigger hype: Bouillon d'Amsterdam. The first location, still brand new, is situated in Hotel Die Port van Cleve in the city center. Think fast service, low prices, and, for example, a very fine steak frites, with chocolate mousse from a large bowl for dessert. There is now also a location in the south.

Wine bar Stern

A German bistro: we didn't have one of those in Amsterdam yet. Now there is Weinlokaal Stern, from the men behind wine importer De Wijnkameel. They are introducing 'Neue deutsche Küche' to the city and focusing on, well, German wine. They have a full menu: good schnitzel, but also sausages, for example, though snacking and a German beer at the bar are also doing very well.

Café Vita Lente

The owners of restaurant Coulisse went their separate ways after the closure: chef Tim van der Molen started the restaurant Nicotine in Noord, and maître-sommelier Simon Witmaar opened Vita Lente. A delightful wine bar where you can stop by from 11:30 for a sandwich and coffee, but where you will also soon feel like having a good glass of wine and all the tasty small dishes on the menu.

Sake is gaining ground! The first pure sake bar in the Netherlands is located on De Ruijterkade, in the spot where Zuiver Bar is situated from Wednesday to Friday. Nai!! is open on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. You can enjoy a good glass of sake there, sample a flight (optionally with matching cheese), and eat fun snacks.

And that's no surprise, as 'Takumi' means craftsmanship in Japanese; someone who specializes in a craft. It's spot on, because at Takumi Ramen, they've mastered the art of ramen making down to the last detail.

Moche Amsterdam has since become the hotspot in Amsterdam-East, where you can dine and enjoy the most delicious ceviche our capital has to offer. In the building we still remember from Mr. and Mrs. Watson (a vegan restaurant), you can now enjoy Modern Ceviche; Moche, that is. Not only the menu, but also the interior of Moche Amsterdam has a Peruvian touch.

After a short hiatus, Klaproos is back! And we couldn't be happier. The new Klaproos—located at Papaverhoek 39 in Amsterdam-Noord—is just as good as the old one. Think crisp, fresh pizzas, a cozy atmosphere (including DJs on weekends), a bar that invites you to linger all evening, and a great place to visit with large groups.

The brand-new RIJKS recently opened its doors. Expect something quite different from what you're used to from this classic. The surprising new interior has undergone a major makeover, as has the menu. Chef Joris Bijdendijk and his trusted team are still at the creative helm. In the pop-up they've been running in the Zuidas district for the past few months, they've already been testing a few things as a preview of RIJKS' new flavors.

Remember the location of wine bar Envy on Prinsengracht? This former warehouse, now home to the brand-new Cafe Restaurant Verlan, opened in 2023! A place where you can enjoy a French-inspired, no-nonsense menu starting at lunchtime on weekends. And that's a good thing, because lunch on the weekend is sometimes so much more fun than dining out late at night. Reservations are welcome, but there are always tables and bar seating available for walk-ins. It's a place where you can go as wild as you like. Café Beurre

Cafe Beurre Amsterdam is arguably the best new vegetarian hotspot in the city. Since opening, this restaurant has been full every night. And we certainly understand why! Café Beurre is an incredibly atmospheric restaurant with a menu full of delicious vegetarian dishes. The owners of this restaurant might be 'old' acquaintances to the foodies among us. Owner Kim Jongbloed previously worked at Balthazar's Keuken, his aunt's business, with whom he has now started Café Beurre. You notice immediately that the team is already experienced within the Amsterdam restaurant scene.

Café Beurre is simply, yet warmly and elegantly decorated. It features a cozy bar, as well as white tablecloths. It has a lovely atmosphere and gives us a bit of a French feel. Good to know: Café Beurre Amsterdam does not accept reservations. As a result, the atmosphere is relaxed and invites you to walk in spontaneously for a pleasant evening. Undoubtedly one of the nicest new restaurants in Amsterdam North. And the good news is that they have their own bakery, which is why they open early every day. It is best to stop by around lunchtime! From 12:00 PM onwards, they already have a number of divine dishes on the changing menu. I would say order a variety of dishes from the menu and definitely don't skip the snacks. A full table, a glass of wine or another nice drink to go with it, and just enjoy! TIP: It is also fun to combine a daytime visit with the NXT Museum , which is located right next to Cafe Restaurant Metro.

I went here for a nice, extensive dinner in the evening. Perfect for date night or with friends. Start with a drink and a snack at the bar and then take your seats at a table. You’ll want to try the entire menu, and coming back often is certainly no hardship, as the dishes change regularly. What I also really appreciate is that the wine list here starts with genuinely friendly prices for truly delicious wines. It is therefore one of the few new restaurants in Amsterdam of this caliber where you don't immediately have to spend at least 40-50 euros on a bottle of wine. That deserves to be mentioned, so thumbs up for the accessible wine list. Also nice: they have a lovely terrace in the summer.

In the always lively and cozy Javastraat, you can visit Le French Café all day long. It is a modern French bistro where the menu is packed with the best of France and where you can imagine yourself in Paris for a moment. The interior is simply amazing! Something else I really like about this new restaurant in Amsterdam is that various nice little nooks have been created throughout the place. A table to pull up a chair, small bistro tables where you can quietly read the newspaper, a cozy bar for endless drinks later in the day, and of course, a lovely terrace.

On the menu, you'll find delicious brunch dishes such as Eggs Benedict, steak tartare, and more. Want to stick around for drinks after brunch? Then Le French Café is definitely the place to be. The bar snacks menu is so tasty that you might almost skip the main course for dinner. Although that would be a shame if you love seafood! This new restaurant in Amsterdam is not only a wonderful addition in every way for anyone who loves French food… you can also enjoy delicious shellfish and seafood there. So start planning that next dinner date!

Wils Bakery Café

Joris Bijdendijk (known from RIJKS* and Wils*) has opened a new establishment on Amsterdam's Stadionplein. Wils Bakery Café is a combination of a bakery and a bistro, making it the Burgundian sister of the Michelin-starred restaurant Wils, which is located on the 3rd floor of the building. Wils Bakery Cafe is the best of both worlds: a place where the craft of a bakery and the coziness of a French bistro come together.

If you are dining or having lunch at Wils* in a more exclusive atmosphere, you can walk into Wils Bakery Café without a reservation for classic lunch and bread dishes. Think of: the Reuben Sandwich, an asparagus quiche, and pâté en croute. In addition, Bijdendijk and his team serve their best versions of schnitzel, pork sausage, and soft serve ice cream. Bread, pastries, and lunch to go can also be purchased directly from the bakery. In the summer, Wils Bakery Café also has a lovely terrace on Stadionplein. Sounds good, doesn't it?

Na Café Binnenvisser in Amsterdam West and Restaurant Corner Store In Amsterdam-Noord, the same team opened Café Twee Prinsen in Amsterdam city center. Open seven days a week, from drinks until midnight, and also for lunch or brunch on weekends. Peering in through the large windows from the outside, you'll already be struck by the ambiance of a modern Amsterdam brown café. This is the perfect place for delicious food and drinks, and in good weather, the canal-side terrace is a delightful place to relax.

Slope 7

Helling 7 has now opened on the corner of Damen Shiprepair on the old NDSM site in Amsterdam North. It is one of the coolest new restaurants in the city, where you really get that WOW feeling all over again. As the name suggests, this restaurant with a large terrace is located in an old shipyard. This terrace, by the way, is one to remember, as it can also be covered. The restaurant, with a view over the IJ, was built according to a sustainable vision, using the reuse of old shipyard materials such as steel remnants, wooden panels, and ship flooring. Fantastically well done!

But enough about the interior, because the most important thing is: the food is also excellent. I was there for an extensive lunch and haven't had such a delicious and cozy meal in ages. Dishes without too much fuss, prepared over an open fire. Go try it soon!

One of the newest restaurants in Amsterdam's city center is Sinck. Looking for a restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam? Look no further! This restaurant is located at Prinsengracht 422. Sinck is an initiative of Sander, Timo, and Sebas, each of whom gained experience at well-known Michelin-starred establishments in the Netherlands. Chef Sander, known for his work at the Victoria Hotel, creates the delicious preparation of various dishes (if you even check out their Instagram, you'll see they look fantastic!). Sommelier Sebas, whose experience includes working at De Librije, provides the wine pairings. And finally, restaurant manager Timo ensures you have everything you need. The restaurant is divided into a lower level that serves as a wine bar and an upper level for more extensive dining.

Corner Store

One of the best new restaurants in Amsterdam Noord. Another gem from the team behind Binnenvisser and Cafe Twee Prinsen, among others. Reservations are not accepted at Corner Store; they operate on a first-come, first-served basis. However, the terrace opens at 17.00:18.00 PM in good weather! Dinner is served from XNUMX:XNUMX PM, and what makes the setting of this gastrobar truly special are the shelves overflowing with records. Inspired by music bars like those you see in Japan, this restaurant in Noord combines music, natural wines, and a menu based on local ingredients, yet with Asian flavors.
