Plan your next city trip with the tips from our Hamburg Travel Guide

Berlin is a fantastic city, of course, but if you're looking for something different, Hamburg is also highly recommended. Yourlbb team has been there several times now, and our Hamburg City Guide Hamburg is starting to fill up with the city's best hotspots. Stroll through the Karolienenviertel, one of the city's hippest neighborhoods, or go shopping in the Schanze district for the more upscale boutiques. Hamburg is diverse, from super alternative to restaurants where you can enjoy a lavish meal. In this update of our Hamburg In our City Guide we have listed the best (new) addresses and hotspots for you!

STAY in Hamburg at the city's new hotel

Sir Nikolai: For a truly relaxing stay, think rain shower, cocktail table in your room, your own Marshall Bluetooth box, a huge box spring, and an à la carte breakfast at Izakaya (located within the hotel itself), you've come to the right place at Hotel Sir Nikolai!

You want to know these restaurants in Hamburg

Hamburg del Mar: Another great spot for drinks, if you're hanging around near Sir Nikolai, is Hamburg del Mar. A beach bar (yes, with a view of the Elbe!) with delicious cocktails and my all-time favorite: Aperol Spritz.
St. Pauli Landing Bridges, Hamburg, hamburg-del-mar.de

Karlsons Neustadt: For Scandinavian dishes (hygge!), Karlsons Neustadt is the place to be. The ingredients used in the dishes are incredibly fresh and organic, and you'll truly feel like you're in Denmark when you try the rice pudding dessert!
Alter Steinweg 10, Hamburg, karlsons.de

Tschebull: While you're in Germany, be sure to stop by Tschebull, considered by locals to have the best schnitzels in town! The vegetarian options are also highly recommended, such as cauliflower puree with wild broccoli, Roma tomatoes, and parsley pesto!
Mönckebergstraße 7, Hamburg, tschebull.de

Gefoundenes Fressen: This is the place to order your breakfast on a Sunday morning. Think blueberry buttercrumb whipped cream pancakes! If you're also looking for some culture, they have a calendar full of music and art-related events.
Marktstraße 130, Hamburg, gefundenesfressen.hamburg

Found food

Luba Luft: One of Sir Nikolai's local guides recommended Luba Luft for the tastiest cocktails and the best place to explore Hamburg's nightlife.
Am Brunnenhof 2-4, Hamburg, lubaluft.de

Harbor Cake: This is the place to go for the most delicious German/Austrian pastries and other treats like Austrian pancakes and dumplings. It's the best place to relax after shopping in the trendy Karolinenviertel district where you'll find this little place.
Marktstraße 36, Hamburg, check the Facebook page

Izakaya: For freshest-than-fresh sushi with a Peruvian twist and an extensive wine list, head to Izakaya, located in the Sir Nikolai Hotel. Anyone familiar with this restaurant from Amsterdam or perhaps Ibiza will recognize several classic dishes on the menu. The spinach salad is a must-try! Another classic is the spicy tuna with crispy rice.

nice areas for shopping in Hamburg

Discover the Schanze district: Hamburg is known for its upscale shopping districts, and Schanze is a prime example. Be sure to check out Kauf Dich Glucklich, Fräulein Wunder for local brands, Amara Ajai for the finest jewelry, and Under Pressure for LPs and sneakers.

Stroll through the Flohschanze market: Every Saturday until 16:00 PM, you have the chance to score your vintage finds at the Flohschanze market. Here you'll find everything from LPs and vintage furniture to clothing and books.

this is what you want to do in Hamburg

Visit the Elbphilharmonie: Hamburg's most famous concert hall is definitely recommended! The building itself is impressive in terms of architecture. Getting tickets isn't easy, so be sure to check availability well in advance.

Book a tour: The Sir Nikolai offers fantastic tours of Hamburg. I'm not talking about those massive groups with tour guides carrying a flag, but rather small-scale city tours where you can visit, for example, the creative workshops of local artists or designers. Highly recommended!

Wander around Hafen City: Did I mention the new Sir Nikolai Hotel is right next to the Hafen City district? I could spend an entire afternoon wandering around among all the old warehouses (it even reminds me a bit of Brooklyn!) that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre). PUUR JONNIE, an ode to Jonnie Boer. Today I had the honor of being at @delibrijezwolle for the book launch of @jonnie_en_therese. I spent the entire evening reading and browsing. WHAT A BOOK. This is your ticket to Japan without taking a plane 🥢 @tewatashi.ams in De Pijp serves an authentic Edo-Mae Sushi Experience and is super consistent in their quality. It's the place we keep going back to when we have something to celebrate <3. In this video I'm sharing the 2 hour experience in 60 seconds. Still dreaming about the buttery ika nigiri. 🤤 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam serving premium sushi omakase in De Pijp }
