I probably sound really old when I say this, but 2015 has gone by so fast! The first of January is always a good day to think about how fast time flies and to work on my New Year’s resolutions. Although I forget about them after a few weeks anyways… That’s why it might be a better idea to go to Amsterdam on the first day of the new year. When the fatigue and the hangover of last night have passed, I’m going to do something fun. What are the places to be on January first 2016? Yourlbb found out for you!

– What is better than starting the year with a calorie bomb? ;-) Hit the supermarket before January 1st for some ingredients for a cheese fondue with friends. Tip: besides your regular baguette and vegetables, also get yourself some fresh raviolis and small meat balls. These will give your fondue an upgrade. Not feeling like shopping for groceries? – Want to do something more active on January 1st? Then let’s game at TonTon Club. They have different arcade games and pinball machines to entertain you all day. Next to their first location in the Red Light District they recently opened a second venue on the Westergasterrein. That means even more pinball fun. – Want to do a romantic lit up walk or boat tour? Then go to the Amsterdam Light Festival! Of course you don’t have to take your lover, your best friends will do just fine! Grab a wine and let’s enjoy the beautiful light sculptures.
– New Year’s Day is also a great day to sit in a cinema chair and see a good (or really bad, that’s okay too ;-)) movie. We already made a list of nice Indie movie theatres in Amsterdam. On January 1st, they’re even better.
– Really want to stay inside on January 1st? Then stay on the couch with a blanket and a nice tv show. At the moment, we are big fans of Jessica Jones because of all the chick power. But we also like Master of None (really funny) and Narcos a lot here.
– Let’s sweat out last night’s alcohol and go ice skating. On the Jaap Edenbaan, for example, or between the I Amsterdam letters on the Museumplein. Every year again a magical experience!
