These are the new restaurants in Amsterdam in 2025

Many of these new restaurants in Amsterdam also have lovely (heated) terraces, so if it's sunny, you might enjoy a spot on the terrace (under a blanket) for lunch or drinks. But it's also a great place to relax indoors, as the interiors of these Amsterdam restaurants are almost all Instagram-worthy. And what I love about these new hotspots is that it often feels like they've been there for years. The Amsterdam restaurant scene is fortunate to have a number of new classics! Another great thing: many of these new restaurants offer plenty of vegetarian options on the menu.

So share this article about new restaurants in Amsterdam with your friends, pick something fun, and plan that dinner date. From Amsterdam East to West, you'll want to know these Amsterdam hotspots.

Forget the classic omakase experience in Amsterdam, this is something else. Hidden inside burger spot @paindemie_amsterdam and inspired by the Tokyo subway, you'll find @moyo_amsterdam. A new hotspot redefining the omakase concept. Chef @guillaumedebeer is behind this next-level concept, and it shows in every creative detail. But here O-toro and Wagyu take the stage 🥩. The most beautiful l𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘀 for your 𝗡𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 this season The days are getting shorter, the evenings longer… And honestly? I secretly think that’s one of the nicest things about this season. Because the transition from autumn to winter means: light festivals! ✨ All over the Netherlands, cities, parks and castles light up with light art, projections and installations that you’ll love to see them all. What once started with the Amsterdam Light Festival has grown into one of the most beautiful winter traditions in the country, if you ask me! Most light festivals also offer cozy hot chocolate and food stalls for something tasty to go. Perfect for a winter evening with your loved one, family, or friends. Can you picture yourself strolling past artworks that transform streets, parks, and canals into a fairytale, with a hot chocolate or mulled wine in hand? 📍From North Holland to Gelderland, I'm sharing all the tips in a comprehensive article on Your Little Black Book, featuring the best light festivals in almost every province in the Netherlands. Don't skip dessert: the Basque cheesecake is already my favorite. This spot is perfect for a date night at the bar or dinner with the girls. new restaurants in Amsterdam to have on your radar

Mesa Mesa

You'll want to know about the new Spanish gastrobar Mesa Mesa in De Pijp. Here you can enjoy tapas, pintxos, and other delicious Spanish dishes. But for tapas and a nice glass of wine, you've definitely come to the right place. This Spanish gem recently opened on Marie Heinekenplein and is in my top 10 recent openings. A cozy, warmly decorated restaurant that feels almost un-Dutch. The Spanish chef is a truly excellent cook, and the tapas here are next-level and luxurious.

Satay House Senayan

In the Nine Streets, you can now enjoy freshly made satay, which they claim is the best outside of their home country, Indonesia. We've tasted it (both in Indonesia and here), and we can safely say it's quite similar. Here's how it works: Senayan is part of the Sarirasa Group, which owns nearly 80 restaurants in Indonesia and is now expanding its presence abroad, with the Netherlands as its first destination.
Reestraat 11 & Javastraat 55H (opening soon) – satehousesenayan.nl

Crema Amsterdam

On Albert Cuypstraat, you'll find the best soft serve ice cream in Amsterdam at Crema. They're also quite experimental here, like how about soft serve with olive oil? Albert Cuypstraat 82J, Amsterdam – Instagram

Love pasta but not so keen on making it yourself? At Scarpetta, you can enjoy "pasta in a jar." You can linger or take the pasta to go. All pasta is freshly prepared and tastes like you're in Italy. And of course, you'll end your evening with their homemade tiramisu – also in a jar.
Haarlemmerdijk 125, Amsterdam – scarpetta.co

Omahe Amsterdam

An Indonesian brasserie—a place we didn't quite realize we were missing in our lives until Omahe arrived on Ruysdaelkade. Our current favorite: Terong Pedas Tegal, a fried dish with spicy sambal that instantly transports you to Java.

Restaurant Franzen

Homely, pure, and unfussy: that's Franzen in a nutshell. We quickly discovered a few favorites: the poultry brioche is a big recommendation, as is the tuna with sorrel, horseradish, fennel, and hazelnut. The flavors are just right here—and apparently, you don't need much to achieve that.
Johannes Verhulststraat 64-H, Amsterdam – franzen.amsterdam

Dough Amsterdam

Right behind Radio Radio in Westerpark, you'll find Dough Bakery, a tiny bakery with—as the name suggests—the most delicious pastries to satisfy your cravings. They're open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM until everything is sold out. And yes, that can go quickly on weekends.

Layers Bakery

Perhaps the capital's most aesthetically pleasing addition: Layers Bakery in De Pijp. Besides a fantastic interior, they serve delicious, original sandwiches. From the pastrami bun to the fried chicken croissant burger – we wouldn't say no to either, and we haven't tasted anything like it anywhere else.
Saenredamstraat 32, Amsterdam – Instagram

Simply serving really good sandwiches is Fridays' goal. And let's be honest: they succeed with flying colors. At Asterweg in Noord, you can order their delicious sandwiches, each with its own unique name. Our favorites: the PEKKA and YIGGY.

roef

Where Novi used to be, you'll now find Roef. Right on Middenweg, you'll find a place to dine with "a unique and proud attitude," according to the owners. They serve honest wines and exciting flavors from all over the world. A unique and innovative spot, even for Amsterdam.

Roum Café

Since this summer, you'll find Roum Café in the heart of De Pijp, where almost all the flavors of the Middle East converge, with a special focus on Lebanese cuisine. It's a delightful spot that feels like an extension of your living room, but with food you wouldn't be able to prepare yourself ;-).
First Jan Steenstraat 85H, Amsterdam – roumcafes.com

Rust

who knows Rust Amsterdam (East) Right? It was a great loss for a long time that this place—somewhat comparable to Pllek in Amsterdam Noord—closed its doors. Roest is now back, under the leadership of the owners of De Willem. The concept is even somewhat similar, with a delicious and varied menu with international influences. Only the atmosphere is different: Roest remains Roest: a place with a free spirit.
Jacob Bontiusplaats 1, Amsterdam – Instagram

Restaurant Boon & De Koot

Good news for those who don't live near Zoldering, because Restaurant Boon & De Koot has opened in the Spaarndammerbuurt neighborhood. A lovely new spot from the same owners, not far from their wine shop Lof on Haarlemmerdijk.

Juno Amsterdam

Where Van 't Spit used to be located on Frans Halsstraat, you can now find Juno Restaurant AmsterdamSame owners, but a new concept. A fire in the kitchen some time ago proved the perfect opportunity to change course. The starting point? A place where the owners themselves would also enjoy visiting. A place where phones are generally avoided, there's no Wi-Fi (the reception is poor), and there are no influencer collaborations. So, what does it offer? A cozy atmosphere, a vinyl bar, delicious food, and excellent wines.

Loop51

Who thinks that? Loop51 Another new listening bar is wrong. Sure, you can listen to live vinyl, but while dancing is out of the question at listening bars, this one gets the crowd moving. The concept is simple: brunch is served during the day while enjoying vinyl, and in the evenings, the dance floor is opened on various nights.

Sam's Coffee North

Sam's Coffee North Amsterdam is the second location for Sam's Koffie, which already has a location on Welnastraat in Oud-West. Opening a coffee shop in Noord is a different story than in Oud-West, the owners discovered. Sam's in Noord aims to be as inclusive as possible; no exorbitant prices or snobby attitudes, just good coffee and snacks at fair prices. A small cappuccino, for example, starts at €3,30, and a toasted sandwich for €6,50. That's very reasonable by Amsterdam standards.

Kantina Greca Amsterdam

Katina Greca Amsterdam opened its doors to bring true, authentic Greece to the heart of Amsterdam, according to founder Maria Smirnioti. Come for nostalgia, memories of the ever-sunny country, or for the best honey, olives, or olive oil in the world. The menu includes spanakotyropita—you know, those delicious spinach-feta pastries—moussaka, and savory crêpes. Because the Greeks love those too: savory crêpes with vegetables and melted cheese as toppings. But the sweet version is also gaining popularity in the Netherlands, with fillings like chocolate, banana, and biscuit.

Fonda Café Amsterdam

Fonda Café Amsterdam is the newest hotspot at the Stedelijk Museum. This is remarkable, because you often don't have to have incredibly high expectations of a museum café. Good coffee is often more a matter of chance or a pleasant coincidence. That's not the case at Fonda, where the coffee, tea, and matcha are at their best. The bar area is located in the entrance hall on the ground floor and is open to everyone, whether you're visiting the museum or not. Fonda Café is on the first floor, near the building's iconic staircase. To visit the café, you do need a museum ticket, or of course, a Museum Card. The café has the character of a classic luncheonette, including large shared tables and a self-service counter.

Pizza Rebels

Anyone who loves good pizza undoubtedly knows the company behind Pizza Rebels Amsterdam. The creative team behind the new Jordaan location belongs to Magnia Pizza, which has locations in the city center and Vondelpark neighborhood, among other places. Then there's the menu, which will definitely make you hungry: for those who can't decide (we understand), there's the tasting menu, consisting of four to six slices of different flavors. These slices can also be ordered individually or as a whole pizza. The Bloody Rapa is a favorite among meat eaters, as is the Domenico Napoleata.

Bistro Toast was meant to be a nod to a modern bistro with plenty of greenery. The plan was to cover the ceiling with artificial flowers, but for now, these are limited to the entrance and the bar. Nevertheless, they give the feeling that you've entered Bistro Toost Amstelveen in a sunny place. The menu features a variety of dishes, including French classics such as eggs mayonnaise, but also celeriac with caramel sea salt and aubergine with miso.

Rufus Amsterdam

Rufus Amsterdam marks the end of a journey from Tirana – one of Albania's most important cities. One that the average Dutch person wouldn't immediately think of as a special cuisine, but that's a shame, according to the minds behind Rufus. Because the Italian-Albanian family knows better than anyone how good the food is there. At Rufus, they bring together the two worlds – Italy and Albania – in one kitchen. And that results in many surprising dishes.

sushi ikigai

You've probably come across the term "ikigai" before. In Japanese, it means something like "reason for being" or "purpose in life." It's about finding happiness, fulfillment, and purpose in life. The concept assumes that everyone has their own unique ikigai in their life. The trick is to find it and put it to good use. Chef and owner Evert Broer found his ikigai over eighteen years ago in the art of sushi making. He learned the tricks of the trade and gained experience all over the world: from Tulum to Ibiza. He now describes sushi as his ikigai, his "reason for being"—it has taken over his life in a positive way. "It's about more than just developing a dish. For me, it's about the joy and love that goes into it," he explains. Now that he's settled in Amsterdam, he wants to introduce our capital to premium sushi: from traditional recipes to sushi with a modern twist.

Cafe Restaurant Metro

Easily one of the nicest new restaurants in Amsterdam Noord. And the good news is that they have their own bakery, so they open early every day. The best time to visit is around lunchtime! From noon onwards, they already have a number of divine dishes on the changing menu. I recommend ordering a variety of dishes from the menu and don't miss the snacks. Fill your table, add a glass of wine or another delicious drink, and enjoy! TIP: It's also fun to combine a daytime visit with NXT Museum It's right next to Cafe Restaurant Metro. I enjoyed a leisurely dinner here in the evening. Perfect for date night or with friends. Start with a drink and a snack at the bar and then sit down for a meal. You'll want to try the entire menu, and coming back often isn't a bad idea, as the dishes change regularly. I also really appreciate that the wine list starts with truly reasonable prices for truly delicious wines. It's one of the few new restaurants in Amsterdam of this caliber where you don't immediately have to spend at least 40-50 euros for a bottle. It's worth mentioning, so thumbs up for the accessible wine list. Also nice: in the summer, they have a lovely terrace.

Le French Café

In the always lively and charming Javastraat, you can visit Le French Café all day long. A modern French bistro where the menu is packed with the best of France, you'll feel like you're in Paris. The interior is absolutely stunning! Another thing I really love about this new restaurant in Amsterdam is the variety of charming nooks and crannies throughout the space. A table to sit at, small bistro tables where you can quietly read a newspaper, a cozy bar for endless drinks later in the day, and of course, a lovely terrace. The menu features delicious brunch dishes like eggs Benedict, steak tartare, and more. Want to stick around for drinks after brunch? Then Le French Café is definitely the place to be. The appetizer menu is so delicious that you might skip the main course for dinner. Although that would be a shame if you're a seafood lover! This new restaurant in Amsterdam is not only a great addition in every way for anyone who loves French food… you can also enjoy delicious shellfish and seafood. So plan that next dinner date!

Next

NEXT at the NDSM wharf is the newest addition from the team behind PLLEK. You could think of it as a slightly more mature, yet still rebellious and uncategorizable, larger brother. Open seven days a week from 9.30:XNUMX am, it's also a great place for breakfast. But perhaps even more so, it's the kind of place you go for drinks in the late afternoon, and then you don't want to go home. You stick around for dinner (or even better, the chef's menu, much of which is vegan). And after dinner, NEXT is also the perfect place to enjoy another cocktail and turn it into an (unplanned) party.

Chun Café

It's probably a good thing there's always a long line at Chun in the Nine Streets. Otherwise, I'd be having breakfast here every day with their delicious brioche toast! If you ask me, these are quite possibly the best sandwiches you can get in Amsterdam right now. So my advice: get there before 10.00:XNUMX AM on weekends or during the week (when it's a bit less busy). It's worth the wait. Favorites on the menu are definitely the bulgogi and the shrimp toast. Order a homemade lemonade with it. They also have excellent coffee.

Bakery Louf

There's really only one place you'll want to have breakfast in Amsterdam West. That is, if you love really good bread. Bakery Louf is a lovely spot with a wonderful atmosphere. Whether you want to have breakfast alone with a magazine or newspaper, or you're meeting up with a friend. In good weather, the terrace is also a great place to people-watch on the always lively Bilderdijkstraat. And did I mention they open at 8.00:XNUMX AM? Wils Bakery Café

Joris Bijdendijk (known from RIJKS* and Wils*) has opened a new location at Amsterdam's Stadionplein. Wils Bakery Café is a combination bakery and bistro, the Burgundian sister of Michelin-starred restaurant Wils, located on the building's third floor. Wils Bakery Café offers the best of both worlds, a place where the craftsmanship of a bakery meets the coziness of a French bistro. Whether you're enjoying a more exclusive dinner or lunch at Wils*, you can pop in without a reservation at Wils Bakery Café for classic lunch and bread dishes. Think: the Reuben sandwich, an asparagus quiche, and pâté en croute. Bijdendijk and his team also serve their best versions of schnitzel, slavink, and soft serve ice cream. Bread, pastries, and lunch can also be purchased to go at the bakery itself. In the summer, Wils Bakery Café also has a lovely terrace on Stadionplein. Sounds good, right?

Café Twee Prinsen

Na Café Binnenvisser in Amsterdam West and Restaurant Corner Store In Amsterdam-Noord, the same team opened Café Twee Prinsen in Amsterdam city center. Open seven days a week, from drinks until midnight, and also for lunch or brunch on weekends. Peering in through the large windows from the outside, you'll already be struck by the ambiance of a modern Amsterdam brown café. This is the perfect place for delicious food and drinks, and in good weather, the canal-side terrace is a delightful place to relax.

Slope 7

Helling 7 has now opened on the corner of Damen Shiprepair on the old NDSM site in Amsterdam Noord. One of the city's coolest new restaurants, it's a real WOW experience. As the name suggests, this restaurant with a large terrace is located in a former shipyard. This terrace is definitely one to remember, as it can be covered. The restaurant, overlooking the IJ River, was built according to a sustainable vision, reusing old shipyard materials like scrap steel, wooden panels, and ship floors. Fantastically well done! But enough about the interior, because most importantly: the food is also excellent. I was there for a leisurely lunch and haven't had such a delicious and enjoyable meal in a long time. Dishes prepared without too much fuss over an open fire. Go try them soon!

Sinck

One of the newest restaurants in Amsterdam's city center is Sinck. Looking for a restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam? Look no further! This restaurant is located at Prinsengracht 422. Sinck is an initiative of Sander, Timo, and Sebas, each of whom gained experience at well-known Michelin-starred establishments in the Netherlands. Chef Sander, known for his work at the Victoria Hotel, creates the delicious preparation of various dishes (if you even check out their Instagram, you'll see they look fantastic!). Sommelier Sebas, whose experience includes working at De Librije, provides the wine pairings. And finally, restaurant manager Timo ensures you have everything you need. The restaurant is divided into a lower level that serves as a wine bar and an upper level for more extensive dining.

Corner Store

One of the best new restaurants in Amsterdam Noord. Another gem from the team behind Binnenvisser and Cafe Twee Prinsen, among others. Reservations are not accepted at Corner Store; they operate on a first-come, first-served basis. However, the terrace opens at 17.00:18.00 PM in good weather! Dinner is served from XNUMX:XNUMX PM, and what makes the setting of this gastrobar truly special are the shelves overflowing with records. Inspired by music bars like those you see in Japan, this restaurant in Noord combines music, natural wines, and a menu based on local ingredients, yet with Asian flavors.

Sushi Fanatics

Amsterdam East boasts one of the city's best low-key new sushi restaurants. It's my regular go-to place for sushi, but you can also enjoy a seat on the mezzanine floor inside the restaurant. High-quality sushi made with love. They also regularly have specials featuring seasonal fish, like sea urchin. Keep an eye on their Instagram for that!
