Dimmed lights, shelves lined with bitters and bottles, and bartenders who take pride in their craft and expertise. When you say September, you say Negroni Week in Amsterdam! From September 16th to 22nd, this classic Italian cocktail will take center stage at the best bars in the city, with a special event every day.

This Negroni grows in popularity every year, and once you’ve tasted a perfect serve with Campari, you’ll understand why. Perfect as an aperitif or as a final drink on your way home after a long evening of dining. We all have our favorite cocktail bars in Amsterdam that we return to time and again. Each bar has its own vibe. Personally, what I always find fun is that it gives me the feeling of living in a true metropolis, especially when I sip my Negroni in a chic hotel bar (like Fitz’s Bar) or with a panoramic view of the city (at Sonora or Luminair).

What’s happening during Negroni Week? Check out the full agenda below!

Also fun: Take a Negroni Walk to sample the best Negronis

Negroni Walk in Amsterdam Centrum:

Mapping out this route, I’m already excited for my next date night! Start at Vesper, a classic near the Haarlemmerstraat and tiny, so your best chance for a spot is earlier in the evening. Next, head to Sins of Sal, a hidden gem where you can also eat really well. Then stroll through the cozy streets of the Jordaan towards Bar Oldenhof. If you’re craving another Negroni on the way, Salmuera is a perfect pit stop!

Negroni Walk in Amsterdam Oost:

Of course, my own neighborhood, where I’ve lived for over 18 years, deserves a route! Combine a classic evening at Fitz’s Bar and the new Catuabar (which also serves great food—check out this video I made there!). A completely different vibe but with one thing in common: a skilled team and excellent Negronis.

Enjoy!
