The NDSM wharf in Amsterdam North has been a creative breeding ground for years, but in recent years, exciting hotspots have been popping up like mushrooms. From all-day hangouts and pleasant terraces to surprising restaurants and cultural gems like the STREET Museum, where you are surrounded by the most impressive street art.
The raw industrial character of the site, with views of the ship cranes and the IJ River, gives this place a unique edge you won't find anywhere else in the city. Reason enough to spend a day (or evening) across the IJ. We've listed the 13 best spots at the NDSM wharf for you. Enjoy!

@eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember.
Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤
Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here!
📍 Eetcafé de Reiger
Jordaan, Amsterdam City Centre
Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam.
And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too!

A cookbook from Grandma. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home.
The Sühring brothers do not cook based on trends; they cook from memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations.
@relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care.
This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception.
Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly?
🍴 Labskaus with caviar
🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar
🍴 Game pie
🍴 Dry aged Duck
TIP: If you go to Sühring, reserve the seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work!

In this reels I take you along for fine dining in Bangkok at the three Michelin starred restaurant Sühring.

This is one of the nicest free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself in various places in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can, we’ll go again.
📍In this video, I show where you can fill your bucket.
Comment oester for the comprehensive guide with all details about all 8 locations + handy tips and rules.
Important to know:
– Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket)
– For personal use only
– Do not scoop or scrape the soil
– Go at low tide
Handy to take with you:
Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes and garbage bags (for the oysters and dirty clothes).
And of course: also bring an oyster knife, lemon and champagne 🍋🥂Because you want to taste something right away!
The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing.
In the full guide, I share exactly where you can easily find them without much effort. Leave a comment and I'll send it to you right away!
Who do you want to go oyster collecting with soon?

From a free event to try new Limited Subs at @ijveramsterdam to slow mornings, a market stroll (or two), maybe finally ticking off that new restaurant that's been on your list for weeks… and ending somewhere with a good glass of wine while telling yourself “just one more” 😉

What a relaxing place this remains! Especially in the summer on the beautiful, large terrace and in the sand. But even when the weather's bad, it's perfectly comfortable inside. I have to admit, I especially like the drinks menu, and I often turn it into a drinks-snack-dinner ;-). They also often have events here, so be sure to keep an eye on the calendar!

This hotspot at the NDSM Wharf offers arguably the most stunning view of Amsterdam's skyline. The food is simple but excellent, and they also have vegetarian and vegan options. They also frequently host events, and after dinner, there's DJ dancing. Be sure to check their website for upcoming events!

For freshly baked sourdough and iconic pastries, Kometen Brood is the place to be. This beloved bakery started as a neighborhood initiative on Kometenstraat and now has a permanent location at the NDSM wharf. Everything here is lovingly baked by hand, from croissants to focaccia. Grab a treat from the convenient to-go hatch or relax on the sunny terrace and enjoy your fresh bread on the spot.

IJver is one of those places you'll want to visit year-round. Nestled in the heart of the NDSM 500, you'll find this all-day hotspot with a large terrace overlooking colorful street art. Inside, it's warm and industrial, while outside, you can enjoy the sunshine. It's also fun for kids; they can enjoy the play corner, board games, or arcade games, and there's a kids' menu!

At Lagerwal on the NDSM wharf, everything comes together: music, art, delicious food, and long drinks by the water. This summer hotspot feels like a playground for adults, with a relaxed atmosphere and regular live music or surprising performances. Perfect for an afternoon in the sun that flows effortlessly into an evening of dancing, drinks, and good vibes.

From the creators of PLLEK comes NEXT: an all-day spot at the NDSM wharf where you'll want to hang out from morning until night. Start with coffee on the sunny terrace, enjoy drinks until sunset, and then tuck in to the surprising chef's menu, mostly vegan. And just when you think it's finished, the cocktail bar awaits for a final round.
NDSM-Kade 2, Amsterdam – nextndsm.nl
Helling 7 is raw, rugged, and exactly what you're looking for if you're looking for a unique waterfront spot. Tucked among the cranes at the NDSM wharf, this restaurant is housed in a former shipyard, with a stunning terrace right on the IJ River. Cooking is done over an open fire, resulting in pure, flavorful dishes without any fuss. The industrial setting and the view complete the picture—a place to return to again and again.

At Gio's By The River, you'll dine in perhaps the city's most extravagant interior. Think high arches, colorful patterns, and a rainbow overhead—everything exudes over-the-top Italian glamour. Thankfully, the menu remains classic: pure Italian dishes bursting with flavor. Located on the waterfront at the NDSM wharf, this is a spot you'll come for the atmosphere and linger for the pasta.

In a former ship's shed at the NDSM wharf you will find the STREET Museum, where you'll be immersed in the world of street art and graffiti. The colorful murals and installations by international artists are impressive for all ages. For children, it's a visual spectacle where they'll marvel at the enormous artworks. And let's be honest: you're guaranteed to find the perfect spot for an Instagram photo here.
NDSM Square 1, Amsterdam
Every three weeks, you can find the best (vintage) items here. The IJ-Hallen are open on both Saturdays and Sundays, selling secondhand clothing and accessories. From April onwards, it's outdoors, so it's also a great place to shop when the weather's nice! Tip: Come early, around 9:00 AM, for the best finds.
Tt. Neveritaweg 15, Amsterdam – ijhallen.nl
The NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam-Noord hosts several festivals each year. The festival season kicks off each year with DGTL, as well as the Over het IJ Theater Festival and the Wicked Jazz Sounds Festival. There are also numerous food festivals for the foodies among us. There's truly something for everyone, and the NDSM Wharf is a fun, creative venue for festivals.

At plek Weather permitting, there's a movie on the big screen every Tuesday evening from May to the end of September. Keep an eye on their website for the schedule. A great romantic outing for you and your partner!
Tt. Neveritaweg 59, Amsterdam – pllek.nl
If you're even a little familiar with the NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam-Noord, you'll recognize the towering crane. But did you know you can also spend the night in that crane? What a fun thing to do if you have something special to celebrate! Admittedly, it's not cheap. But the view from the Faralda Crane Hotel is then again unaffordable.
