First of all: thank you for being here to close out 2025 <3.
2025, you were everything I hoped you would be and more. So many new memories.
I don't yet know what 2026 will bring, but last year was one for the books. Highlights included trips to China, Mexico City, Egypt, and exploring the English countryside.
Entrepreneurs probably recognize that 2025 was not an easy year.
When I started Your Little Black Book, I had one dream: not to work to stay somewhere for free in exchange for content and the pressure of a "picture perfect" experience. But to use my revenue models to book and experience those special places myself, as a guest instead of an influencer, and to give you honest tips.
After almost 15 years of entrepreneurship, I'm so happy with the balance between editorial and commercial work and that I can also say no to things that don't feel right.
At the same time, it's still special that destinations, airlines, and hotels hire me to create a customized Little Black Book for them. I have complete freedom with these campaigns, and I believe in the value of these content-based tips that truly suit your taste. And they come from me personally, not from a machine.

This will always be my dream job, the one I created almost 15 years ago. I still do as much as possible myself. That's energizing—from both successes and failures.

This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp, Antwerp's newest boutique hotel on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out).
I recently stayed at this gem, and it truly has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls adorned with creative art, beautiful, bright rooms, and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delightful restaurant, helmed by a chef who previously worked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know!

Thé Tjong-Khing & Mino Wortel
WG Kunst opens the year with a special duo exhibition by Thé Tjong-Khing and Mino Wortel. The beloved illustrator will showcase original and often previously unexhibited drawings from his oeuvre, offering a unique glimpse into his versatile craftsmanship. Khing will also create a new mural especially for this edition, another reason to visit. In addition, artist Mino Wortel will present her African-inspired work, ranging from textile art to ceramics and assemblages. The combination of Khing's refined illustrations and Wortel's powerful, handmade objects creates a surprising dialogue between two very different artists. A short but special exhibition, so plan ahead.

Ode to printmaking
In the Van Gogh Museum There will soon be a unique opportunity to see a complete edition of L'Estampe originale, a print album considered an absolute highlight of fin-de-siècle printmaking. The exhibition features some 35 prints and demonstrates the innovative, idiosyncratic, and stylish work of artists at the end of the 19th century. What makes this album so special is that each print was created entirely according to the principles of the "estampe originale": the artists themselves were responsible for everything from design to printing. Because the works are extremely fragile, they are rarely shown, which is reason enough not to miss this exhibition if you enjoy graphic art, art history, or special collections.

THE MOONWALKERS: A JOURNEY WITH TOM HANKS
At Metropole Sales, you can discover a range of Classic Mercedes for sale models, each with its own story and distinctive personality. Co-created and narrated by Tom Hanks, the show makes you feel like you're part of the story. You'll discover how incredibly exciting that time must have been and get a glimpse into the future with the new Artemis program.

Close to Tanja
Until May 10, 2026, Tanja, Amsterdam's most famous hippopotamus, will be the focus of the exhibition Close to Tanja at the ARTIS-Groote Museum. Generations of visitors remember this iconic animal, which lived at ARTIS from 1969 to 2009. The exhibition not only explores personal stories and memories of visitors, but also how animal relations have changed over the years. The hippopotamus's cultural significance is also explored, from a symbol of fertility to a vulnerable species. An audio tour by Merel Westrik brings Tanja's story even closer.

Amsterdam, almost demolished
Can you imagine Amsterdam's canal belt almost disappearing? This new exhibition shows how plans for wide highways, modern offices, and glass towers once threatened the historic city center. Fortunately, Amsterdammers, from local residents to artists, took action and saved the city. With unique archive photos, maps, and action posters, Amsterdam, almost demolished takes you back to an exciting chapter in the city's history.
