Ana Oosting and Emo Verkerk – Museum Beelden aan Zee

At Museum Beelden aan Zee, Ana Oosting brings the dynamics of the North Sea indoors with her installation Breaking Waves. Ten sea creatures move freely through the space, inspired by the rhythms and wave patterns of the ocean. As you walk through the exhibition, the group transforms into a vibrant seascape, accompanied by natural sounds that stimulate your senses.

NN Art Award – Kunsthal Rotterdam

At Kunsthal Rotterdam, discover the new generation of artists during the NN Art Award 2025. This prestigious award highlights promising talent and provides them with a platform. Visit Kunsthal Rotterdam to see the works of the nominees, ranging from paintings and installations to digital art. A great exhibition to get acquainted with the artists of the future.

Boundless – Giselle Kuster

In March, Museum van Bommel van Dam pays tribute to the forgotten artist and gallery owner Giselle Kuster. This exhibition showcases her versatile work and life story, which has remained largely undiscovered until now. Alongside paintings from the museum collection, you’ll also find lost works, rediscovered through a public appeal.

Anaïs López – The Turtle and the Monk

At Japanmuseum SieboldHuis, Anaïs López takes you on a visual and spiritual journey through Japan. Her quest for the mysterious golden turtle Kami, the goddess of the Kamo River, unfolds into a fairytale-like story about grief, control, and our connection with nature. This multimedia project combines photography, storytelling, and imagination into a fascinating experience—an exhibition that is not only seen but felt.

Queer Horizons

The new exhibition Queer Horizons at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, led by artist Leon Stoffelen, allows ten young people from Schiedam and Rotterdam to explore queer identity and reflect on their city’s LGBTQIA+ history. The life of Jillis Bruggeman, the last person in the Netherlands sentenced to death for same-sex relationships, is also highlighted. Their stories are brought together in a 12-meter-long collage and video installation.

Bronze Age – Fire of Change

With the grand overview exhibition Bronze Age: Fire of Change, the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden highlights the rich heritage of the Bronze Age (2000-800 BC) in the Netherlands and Western Europe. Over 400 archaeological finds, including masterpieces of metalworking such as the famous Golden Hat of Schifferstadt and the Mold Gold Cape, are on display. Everyday objects, like amber beads and the oldest dress in the Netherlands, provide insights into the changing world and its people. This is the first major exhibition in the Netherlands dedicated to the Bronze Age.

Grand Dessert

When I Grow Up, I Will Become a Coat Rack

When I Grow Up, I Will Become a Coat Rack offers a playful take on inclusion. At Nest The Hague, Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen challenges your perception with a world where blind people drive cars and the elderly wish for care robots to protect them. Through futuristic imagery, she questions how technology and decision-making exclude people with disabilities. What if innovation were driven not by profit, but by quality of life and joy?

Expect powerful images, intimate portraits, and unique stories that shed new light on Japanese culture and identity.

SALOMON MESDACH – MASTERFUL PORTRAITS FROM THE GOLDEN AGE

At the Stadhuismuseum Zierikzee, you can explore the work of Salomon Mesdach, one of the most refined portrait painters of the Golden Age. His detailed portraits bring historical figures to life in an astonishing way. This exhibition offers a unique glimpse into 17th-century Zeeland. I personally love art from the Golden Age; seeing how portraits of the wealthy were made and learning the stories behind them makes a visit extra special. Highly recommended for lovers of classical art from the Golden Age.

Between the Sea and the Sky

At Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof, Jimmy Nelson presents a visual tribute to centuries-old Dutch traditions with 65 photographic works and two videos. He portrays twenty communities in their traditional attire, blending the timeless elegance of Dutch naturalism with contemporary portrait photography. These powerful images not only showcase the beauty of these cultures but also tell the stories and pride passed down through generations.

Say Yes

At the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam, the exhibition Say Yes explores the meaning behind wedding fashion. From wedding rings to heirlooms and the most stunning designs from different cultures, this exhibition unveils the emotional and symbolic value hidden within wedding attire. It highlights how wedding fashion is much more than just glamour for one day; it carries memories and connects generations.
