Last update: 3 days ago

It remains a favorite of mine: spending an hour gathering new inspiration in a beautiful museum. From fashion to learning about other cultures, photography, or even modern art. There's so much to discover in Dutch museums. That's why I've created the ultimate museum calendar throughout the Netherlands with 18 X new exhibitions to visit in December 2025. From Rotterdam to Leiden and from Groningen to Maastricht. Did you know that you can find a whole dossier on Your Little Black Book with fun things to do throughout the Netherlands? Perhaps you'll find something nice to combine with a visit to one of the museums on this list. Enjoy!

𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬 👀 This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp , the newest boutique hotel in Antwerp on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out). I recently stayed at this gem and this hotel really has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls full of creative art, beautiful bright rooms and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delicious restaurant with a chef behind the pans who previously cooked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know! And now the best news: I can surprise one of you with a dream night away at VIA Antwerp. 💛 𝗪𝗔𝗧 𝗝𝗘 𝗞𝗨𝗡𝗧 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗡 • Overnight stay for 2 people • Breakfast included • Chef's dinner at MEA 𝗭𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗔𝗞 𝗝𝗘 𝗞𝗔𝗡𝗦 • Let us know in the comments which friend you would like to stay here with • Of course, also take a look at @viaantwerp & @mea.antwerp to dream away and follow their updates The winner will be notified personally via DM on December 10th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and will soon share a mini guide with more great tips for Antwerp! 🖤 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck #antwerp #antwerp #zurenborg #antwerpencity #borgerhout

Think twinkling lights, mulled wine, food stalls, live music, unique gifts and lots of Christmas vibes all December long. Whether you're planning a festive day with the fam or friends, or just want to soak up that holiday spirit. These are the markets in Amsterdam to put on your calendar now. 🎄✨ 𝘿𝙧𝙤𝙥 “𝘾𝙃𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙈𝘼𝙎𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙆𝙀𝙏” 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄'𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝙔𝙇𝘽𝘽-𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙢𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙨. HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on with my passport to an old lady who doesn't realize it and checks it in for a flight to the UK! Now I'm stuck here in NY without my passport, and I've missed my flight. I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅. This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢 Note to self: better to take my passport with me all day, instead of leaving it 'safely' in the hotel apparently... and from now on, suitcases should be tied together with a cable in the storage room. Even if you're in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still human work. Now I'm stuck in one of the nicest cities in the world, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel as planned. 😔 To be continued 🧳✈️ And thanks for all the sweet DMs ❤️❤️❤️❤️ ✖️✖️✖️ Anne
And do you also have a nice garden? I want to thank you for your patience and help. 𝟳-𝗷𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲! This time we went to @williams.farmhouse one of my favorites for lunch in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is this also fun during the day with kids? We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success. Child happy, us happy… and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean this interior, I immediately dream away to the Cotswolds again! Do you have a favorite 𝗸𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁 in Amsterdam or the Netherlands? Let me know in the comments, I'll collect all for the next 𝗞𝗜𝗗𝗦𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗘𝗙! ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck #amsterdam #amsterdamfood #amsterdamrestaurants #amsterdamfoodie #amsterdamguide amsterdamwithkids kidsproef familyfriendly amsterdamlunch amsterdamoudzuid yourlittleblackbook kidsproofamsterdam

MUSEUM AGENDA NETHERLANDS: NEW EXHIBITIONS TO VISIT IN DECEMBER 2025

The Most Beautiful Nativity Scene

We love Christmas, and the more Christmassy the better. This winter, you can once again admire the most beautiful nativity scene in the Netherlands at St. Catherine's Cathedral in Utrecht. With over 600 historical figures from 18th-century Naples, it's a true work of art. Everything is handcrafted down to the last detail, from painted terracotta to richly embroidered fabrics. A special treat: on December 11th, there's a festive charity sing-along. Be sure to stop by if you're in the area!

Location: Museum Catharijneconvent
When: December 12, 2025 to January 11, 2026

Rememory

Garage Rotterdam is a great place for contemporary art lovers, and that makes us happy. Thanks to the changing exhibitions, there's always something new to discover. Now on view: Rememory, a group exhibition in which artists bring forgotten histories to life through memory and materials. Think textiles, herbs, paper, and even dried flowers as vehicles for stories of displacement and identity. A powerful, poetic exhibition that will get you thinking.

Starting December 20th, Museum Hilversum will be showcasing the 100 best photos from ten years of Het Perfecte Plaatje, including work by the 2025 winners. How cool is that!

The Studio #10: Eline Kersten

How does climate change affect us as humans? In the tenth edition of The Studio, artist Eline Kersten explores our relationship with disappearing landscapes, melting glaciers, and wildfires. Collaborating with scientists and other professionals, she created a series of glass sculptures filled with liquid: ancient glacial water from Greenland and Antarctica. A thought-provoking installation that provides food for thought about a world in transition.

Location: Bonnefanten, Maastricht
When: From December 6, 2025 to May 5, 2026

Fong-Leng & Fans – 60 years of Fashion & Fame

One of the Netherlands' most colorful fashion icons is put in the spotlight in this special exhibition. Museum JAN celebrates sixty years of Fong-Leng with an ode to her flamboyant creations and her influence on a new generation of designers. Think: leather coats, silks brimming with exotic details, and a living room filled with recent work you'll want to photograph. Designs by designers like Tess van Zalinge, David Laport, and Ronald van der Kemp demonstrate how relevant her style remains.
