HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!

These are the 20 most beautiful beaches in Zeeland
Domburg
Domburg (Walcheren) is the oldest seaside resort in Zeeland. Its beautiful, wide beach and stunning dunes attract many visitors every year. The beach extends to Westkapelle and is known for its centuries-old groynes. Brightly colored beach huts can also be found here. Domburg beach has been voted the cleanest beach in the Netherlands several times.
Oostkapelle
Oostkapelle is nestled in the heart of the De Manteling and Oranjezon nature and dune areas. Just like the rest of Walcheren, you'll find many groynes here. Oostkapelle and its beach are especially popular with families. The many pavilions and terraces are great places to enjoy a snack and a drink. If the weather isn't cooperating, a visit to the Terra Maris Landscape Museum is definitely worth it. I used to come here a lot as a child and still think it's one of the most beautiful beaches in Zeeland.
Vrouwenpolder
The wide beach of Vrouwenpolder (Walcheren) isn't just popular with tourists. Locals also enjoy spending their free time here. This beach, on the edge of the Oranjezon dune area, is always bustling with activity. Kitesurfers and kite flyers have their own designated spot. There are also several diving spots. In my opinion, this is also one of the most beautiful beaches in Zeeland to book a beach cabin.
Staying overnight on the beach in Vrouwenpolder
Renesse
The beautiful beach of Renesse, in the north of Schouwen-Duiveland, is an impressive 17 kilometers long. Awarded the Blue Flag for the cleanest beach in 2021, it's a favorite with young and old. The adjacent Westerschouwen woods are also well worth a visit.
Cadzand Bath
Cadzand beach is the southernmost beach in the Netherlands and extends all the way to the Belgian border. Located in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, this beach offers peace and quiet, yet all the necessary amenities are readily available. In the adjacent Zwin nature reserve, you can spot a variety of unique birds.
Vlissingen
Vlissingen is the only town in Zeeland with a city beach. You can walk straight from the town to the beach via the boulevard. Vlissingen also has two other beaches: Nollestrand and Westduin. From the beach, you have an impressive view of passing ships. Various events are held here in the summer, creating a lively atmosphere, but also a great atmosphere. It's not necessarily one of the most beautiful beaches in Zeeland, but it's certainly special with the ships passing by.
Westkapelle
The beaches of Westkapelle, on the western tip of Walcheren, are also known as the Zeeland Riviera. Due to its southern location, it's usually a few degrees warmer here than in the rest of Zeeland. Het Gat beach is accessible directly from the village. South of Kapelle, the 12-kilometer beach extends all the way to Vlissingen.
Saltland
The beach at Zoutelande (Walcheren) is a wonderful spot for families. This long beach with its wide dunes is the only southern beach in the Netherlands and is part of the Zeeland Riviera. Besides a relaxed atmosphere, you'll also find the famous groynes and colorful beach huts. Highly recommended for a beach holiday in the Netherlands.
Dishoek
Do you enjoy walking in the dunes? A narrow path runs across the tops of the high dunes near Dishoek (Walcheren). Zoutelande is 2 kilometers away. It's a 5-kilometer walk to Vlissingen. There are plenty of benches along the way where you can rest and enjoy the view. Prefer to stretch out on your beach towel in the sun? Then you can always relax on the beautiful, clean sandy beach.

Nieuwvliet beach is located on the west side of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Here you'll find peace and quiet for walking, cycling, and enjoying the sun. The beach is over 10 kilometers long and extends all the way to the Belgian border. A special highlight is that you can find fossils of shark and ray teeth here. Something I loved searching for as a child!
St. Annaland
Small is beautiful, that's the saying for the 100-meter-long beach at Sint Annaland (Tholen). At high tide, this small dike beach is almost completely submerged. Planning on sunbathing and relaxing here? Bring your own picnic basket with treats, as you won't find any beach tents here.
Burgh Haamstede
On the west side of Schouwen-Duiveland lies the expansive beach of Burgh Haamstede. The beach is divided into different zones, including beaches specifically for families and (water) sports enthusiasts. It's also a lovely place to relax in autumn and winter, and after your walk, you can enjoy a pleasant lunch in the village.
Westenschouwen
Near Burgh Haamstede on Schouwen-Duiveland, you'll find one of Zeeland's quietest beaches, Westenschouwen. It's a wonderful place to relax. If you're looking for a bit more action, take a brisk walk or bike ride through the Westenschouwen Forestry nature reserve. There's also plenty for kids to do; they'll have a blast in the climbing forest and trampoline center.
Greed
Just like all the beaches in Zeeland, Groede beach (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen) is also a great place to relax. You'll find a lovely meeting place in the dunes, offering a fantastic view. Fancy a romantic date? Watch the beautiful sunset with your sweetheart from this vantage point.
Krabbendijke
On the Oosterschelde estuary near Krabbendijke (Zuid-Beveland) lies a quiet stretch of beach. Here, surfers enjoy the waves, while nature lovers enjoy birdwatching. Children will also have a great time on this beach. At low tide, you can even walk across the mudflats.
Scharendijke
For several years now, Scharendijke beach (Schouwen-Duiveland) has been the go-to spot for water sports enthusiasts. Surfers, sailors, and divers are particularly popular here. At this spot on Lake Grevelingen, you can feast your eyes on all the sporting activity.
Brouwersdam
The Brouwersdam is bustling with activity. The dam connects the islands of Goeree-Overflakkee and Schouwen-Duiveland. Surfing, sailing, diving, or kitesurfing—it's all possible here. But there are also sports on the beach itself. Play a game of beach volleyball or beach soccer. Looking for something more challenging? Try blokarting. If you're looking for something more active, this is one of the most beautiful beaches in Zeeland for you!
Banjaard beach Kamperland
In Noord-Beveland, Banjaard Beach near Kamperland is a delight. It's always bustling with activity, and many activities and demonstrations are organized. A special feature: for those with disabilities, you can rent a beach wheelchair and take a stroll along the 2-kilometer-long boardwalk. This beach, like many others in Zeeland, has also been named the cleanest beach in the Netherlands.
Bruinisse
Going to the seaside with small children? Then Bruinisse (Schouwen-Duiveland) is a good option. This village, known for its mussel farming, has a small beach near the modern marina. Here, children can play and splash around in the shallow water.
Wemeldinge
A drive along the dike takes you to Wemeldinge beach (Zuid-Beveland). From the dike, you'll have a beautiful view and can relax with a picnic in the grass. Of course, lying on the sand with a beach towel is also an option. This is the perfect spot for those seeking peace and quiet.
Neeltje Jans
Whether you're looking for a brisk winter walk or some sunbathing, the expansive beach at Neeltje Jans is often wonderfully peaceful. With a bit of luck, you might even spot seals! For that reason alone, I think it's one of the most beautiful beaches in Zeeland. And if you're looking for something fun to do with kids at Neeltje Jans, visit Deltapark Neeltje Jans, where there's plenty to do for the whole family!
