Are you looking for the most beautiful holiday homes in the NetherlandsI'm busy compiling all the gems for a wonderful holiday in your own country. For example, I already made a list of 24 places to stay in Zeeland where it is very pleasant to be. Until a few years ago I was mainly a booker of boutique hotelsBut since Manuel was born (who's already three), I've discovered how much more comfortable it is to book a cottage instead of a hotel. More privacy, the freedom to decide whether to cook something delicious at home or dine out, more space for kids to run around, a seating area to retreat to with a good book, and the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors when the weather is nice.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱!
I've rounded up a complete list with the coziest and most festive Christmas markets in Amsterdam you don't want to miss this year. Think twinkling lights, mulled wine, food stalls, live music, unique gifts and lots of Christmas vibes all December long.
Whether you're planning a festive day with the fam or friends, or just want to soak up that holiday spirit. These are the markets in Amsterdam to put on your calendar now. 🎄✨

HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔
To be continued 🧳✈️
And thanks for all the sweet DMs ❤️❤️❤️❤️

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.
💬 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 “𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗠” and I will send you the article with all the details and dates in your DM.
Have fun!

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!
Do you have a favorite 𝗸𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁 in Amsterdam or the Netherlands?

In short: I'm convinced and that's why I've collected all the websites I know for you to book the best holiday homes in the Netherlands for your next holiday. staycationTo make it even easier for you, I've also listed the types of accommodations available. How about staying in a safari tent, tiny house, luxury villa, beach house, or cottage surrounded by nature? Read on to find out where to start your search. Good luck booking your staycation!
| TIP: View all handy lists for holiday homes on Your Little Black Book >>
Dutch: When you book a holiday home through Dutchen, you know you're booking a truly luxurious holiday home in the most beautiful locations in the Netherlands. You'll find the villas in small-scale holiday parks along the coast, in the Wadden Sea, and in stunning nature reserves. And don't think of anything you might remember from your childhood when you hear the word "holiday park." I've stayed at Dutchen myself, and it feels more like a compound with several sustainable and luxurious villas, each with a shared gate and private parking. Staying here feels like you're in your second home. With a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need for delicious home cooking, an outdoor kitchen, en-suite bedrooms, and even a private hot tub and sauna if you want! We stayed at Dutchen near Schoorl, where they have several locations. You can also find Dutchen in 't Gooi, on Texel and Ameland, in Groningen, and in Drenthe. The great thing about this young company is that it is constantly evolving and many more beautiful parks will be opened in the coming years, including in Curaçao and Scandinavia.
Nature house: Want to get away from it all? Escape to nature and stay somewhere that sometimes doesn't even have Wi-Fi? At Natuurhuisje, you'll find cottages surrounded by greenery where you can truly unwind. The cottages are sometimes a bit simpler in design, but that very quaintness gives them enormous charm. What I personally appreciate about this website is that you can also search for holiday homes in the Netherlands that aren't located on a holiday park and are therefore unique in their design. You can also select holiday homes that are sustainably built, located in the middle of nowhere, in the woods, or by the sea. Looking for truly unique accommodation? Natuurhuisje also has, for example, tree houses, glamping accommodation, tiny houses and more.
Beach houses via De Roompot: If, like me, you were born in the eighties and don't work in the travel industry like I do, chances are you missed the huge changes at Roompot, and now you can book the coolest beach houses there. Yes, you read that right... staying on the beach in your own beach house. You can also book the fantastic Largo holiday homes through Roompot. Think beach houses on the beach of Vlissingen and Kijkduin near The Hague.
Booking.com: Okay, okay, of course you know this website. But if you're looking for a vacation home, use that filter and you'll discover beautiful private homes or homes located on parks and offered last-minute. Instead of scouring all the individual websites, you'll find a huge selection of vacation homes from different providers here if you're searching for a specific destination in the Netherlands. Personally, I always use Booking.com when looking for nice apartments in a city. So, even if you're looking for a vacation home in the nicest Dutch cities, this is my go-to website. You're also in the right place for gems like Bosvilla Kennemerduinen which is not located in the city.
Beekse Bergen: How much fun was this as a child? Now that I'm a mother myself, I know how wonderful it is to relive your own childhood memories. Since last year, Beekse Bergen has a beautiful resort with holiday cottages where you can literally look out at the giraffes from your garden. Magical for the kids, but secretly also a lot of fun for you.

beekse bergen
A Holiday Home: I use this website to search for the perfect cottage, for example, when we're looking for a holiday home suitable for a family weekend. They have a wide selection in the Veluwe, and I personally find it a wonderful area because there's so much to do. You can easily search on this website by group accommodations, but also filter on different villages and towns around the Veluwe.
View all houses on the Veluwe here
Glampings.com: Let's be honest. I'm not a fan of camping in a small tent. I do, however, love glamping in a nice accommodation. From safari tents to teepees and yurts, you can find the best places to stay in the Netherlands (and beyond) through the Glamping website. Tip: pack some warm clothes for the evenings so you can stay outside longer.
Landal: One of the best-known holiday parks with accommodations throughout the Netherlands. Good to know: not so long ago, they took over the beautiful beach villas on the beach at Hoek van Holland (check them out hereI once came across their website while searching for nice cottages around the Veluwe. You might want to check out their Park Miggelenberg in that case. Landal is known for its parks being situated in green surroundings.
Relax in the Achterhoek: I've decided to visit places in the Netherlands I haven't been to often this summer. I'd like to mention: the Achterhoek region, Drenthe, and Friesland. In my search for nice holiday homes, I came across the website Onthaastenindeachterhoek.nl. There you can book wellness holiday homes with a Finnish sauna and hot tub. How great does that sound?
View the wellness cottages here
Europarcs (formerly Droomparken): I have stayed in several places before tiny houses I highly recommend Droomparken, whether you're traveling with a partner or a baby. Having stayed there myself (both in a tiny house at Droompark De Zanding on the Veluwe and in a tiny house at Droompark Bad Hoophuizen on Lake Veluwe), I've been following their developments over the past few years. I'm particularly pleased to see that they're very much in tune with current trends with their new concepts and truly care about... special overnight stays For example, in a loft, a beach house, and their new country house, which is also very nicely decorated. Anyway, you should take a look yourself!
ANNA Cabin: Fallen in love with the picture in the header of this blog? I GET IT! I even quickly booked for December before updating this post. The story behind these cabins is just as special as they look. Wonderfully cozy in the winter, in the summer you can completely open the cabin. Nestled in nature and also great for kids, there's a large double bed under the glass roof and a bed on the loft.
